I remember when they issued us the air mattresses, I just thought now where in the F do they expect us to carry these? I didn't even have to clean mine clearing for ETS.

I am the Infantry.
I am my country's strength in war.
Her deterrent in peace.
I am the heart of the fight...
wherever, whenever.
I carry America's faith and honor
against her enemies.
I am the Queen of Battle.
I am what my country expects me to be...
the best trained soldier in the world.
In the race for victory
I am swift, determined, and courageous,
armed with a fierce will to win.
Never will I betray my country's trust.
Always I fight on...
through the foe,
to the objective,
to triumph over all,
If necessary, I will fight to my death.
By my steadfast courage,
I have won more than 200 years of freedom.
I yield not to weakness,
to hunger,
to cowardice,
to fatigue,
to superior odds,
for I am mentally tough, physically strong,
and morally straight.
I forsake not...
my country,
my mission,
my comrades,
my sacred duty.
I am relentless.
I am always there,
now and forever.
I AM THE INFANTRY!
FOLLOW ME!

All I know is you need us to find the enemy...

I am a Soldier first, but an intelligence professional second to none.
With pride in my heritage, but focused on the future,
Performing the first task of an Army:
To find, know, and never lose the enemy.
With a sense of urgency and of tenacity, professional and physical fitness,
and above all, INTEGRITY, for in truth lies victory.
Always at silent war, while ready for a shooting war,
The silent warrior of the ARMY team

Negative. That was my job. The long range variety. But we sure did appreciate you offering suggestions of where to look.

I spent about 3-4 months in line company before realizing the hell with this.

Don't care what they are. I have mixed family half black, two of which are in the military. Not sure where that came from?

There is another "Joe" screen name in the PF. Might have you confused. Idk

I can sleep anywhere on anything

I recall coming out of the field after being out there for about a month. I was the Bn 2, my buddy the Scout PL. A bunch of us were sitting in a circle just sort of waiting for the AAR and one by one we just fell backwards and slept. My buddy had taken off his LBE to take his nap but about 10 minutes later he sat up, said "dang it, I can't sleep without it!" and put his LBE back on. It just wasnt' the same without that e-tool in your back.

A Kevlar makes a damn good pillow in a pinch too.

Used to be able to do that. In Korea I woke up smothering where the snow weighed my hooch down over my face. Slept in the rain, the side of a cliff in the jungle the back of a bouncing deuce 1/2 , now I'm old and need my Tempur-Pedic.

I woke up floating one morning. Proved the waterproof bags in the sleeping system worked pretty well.
