The Ink is Dry on the Contract!!!

yes, allvol. It does. At this point, however, chasing the rumours down rabbit holes is half the fun. Spurrier has been such a gamesman that I could see him pulling something like this. On the other hand, it seems like a monumentally low blow to SC. I just don't know what to believe.

Why would it be a low blow to SC? Does ANYONE here think that the SC job is as good as the Alabama job?

USC just got a commit from a kid named Jospeh Hills out of FLA today. Says he committed to Spurrier over the phone. Do you think something like this makes the Spurrier to UA deal a bogus thread?

I think its bogus, especially after what he said yesterday.I can't believe he would say that and then sign a contract with Bama the same day

"I have no intention of leaving South Carolina,” Spurrier said in a statement released by USC. “It’s always flattering when a South Carolina coach is rumored for these big-time programs. This one will die down in two or three days, too.”

The State | 11/28/2006 | Spurrier not enticed by ’Bama

the low blow would be lying to SC. There are ways to by cryptic/evasive without lying. Let's just wait and see what happens.

I do. The fan base is strong. The home state recruiting is good. And finally, USC is viewed as an up and coming program. The only media splash 'Bama makes is for the coaching follies.

IF Spurrier does sign with Alabama, they will be a top program again within 2-3 years. Also, let's not kid ourselves. The fan base for Alabama dwarfs the fan base for South Carolina.

I don't think the second coming of the Bear could bring 'Bama back to it's former greatness and I seriously doubt that USC's fan base is that much smaller.

Don't rule it out guys. Remember Tubberville saying "The only way I am leaving Oxford is in a pine box" then he packs up and leaves in the middle of the night and goes to Auburn.

Spurrier is the only name that seems to hang around this week. Him and Rich Rodriguez.

But my thing is this the way the media is camped out on this, no offense, but you think someone is gonna break the news on a tennessee message board and the media not hear it down here too?????

His membership at Augusta he'd lose is more attractive than the Bama job.

Cause he hangs out here all the time. He knew how gullible this board is.

Let me put that rumor to bed, SPURRIER IS NOT A MEMBER AT AUGUSTA He has the oppertunity to play there once or twice a year, but has no membership. He doesnt even play golf during the football season. He plays during the spring, but he doesn't play nowhere near what he did when he wasn't coaching. I work in management at a prominant golf course in Birmingham and talked with Spurrier when he was here for media days in the summer. All we talked about was golf and different courses and such.

did anyone notice that petrino didn't say he wasn't interested? just that he hadn't been contacted. as hillbilly said there are ways that you can hide the truth without lying. Being a Johnson City kid, I have as much against Spurrier as most anyone else, but I don't think he'd flat lie about it. That being said, as far as the Augusta membership, I'm sure Bama can work something out for that.
