Well thats a stupid and unfunny joke. If he is playin with us then good luck when he posts here.

Let me see if I got this right.
He says it's NOT a rumor. But he has inside contacts with the Athletic Department and the Lawyers Office that administered the deal on info of Spurrier coming to Bama. Also, this info isnot to be rleased publically until the Bowl picks are out this coming Sunday. 192 hours away. Yet, he knows within 48 hours. And he's a message board cruiser that neither provided the law firm nor the Ad contact.

...And you plan on being sore at him???!!!:cray:

He's also the guy that last night alluded to something reminding him of "low budget gay porn".

Grain of salt anyone?

That would be a terrible move on Bama's part. Nothing kills recruiting quite like not having a head coach.

It's not really something that can be "worked-out". Bill Gates wanted a membership and got turned down cold.

that's a good point. i will state that i would bet the farm that Gates isn't part of the "good ole boy" system in Augusta, but that there are some Bama boosters who are; ensuring that Spurrier could still play there occasionally

Playing there is quite different than being a member there. Hell, even women get to play there!

I think it's pretty darn funny. It's still going. They were probably sitting in the dorm saying 'watch this s***, they'll keep this thread live for hours.'

so roughly 4.12 million a year

that would make him the highest paid coach in the ncaa right?

Hell thats more than some Nfl coaches

This is NOT a rumor and remember who told you first. The 7 year 29 million dollar contract was signed between Steve Spurrier and the University of Alabama last night shortly after 10:00 p.m. After the bowl game announcements Sunday it will be publicly announced at a press conference. I wanted to spill it earlier on here but I wanted a 2nd confirmation, one in the Athletic Department and another from the Law Firm that drew it up. Thank you Vols, and have a nice Day!!! :dance2:

and its not even close to April 1st :hi:

Sorry guys, I was out celebrating with a few friends and drinking margaritas at Macho Taco. I will not bet my life on this as I have not personally seen the signed contract. But one of the 2 guys that told me also told me about Shula's hiring about 28 hours before the press conference in '03. Coach Spurrier wants to keep it quiet until after the Bowl Announcements because he doesn't want his decision to leave SC to affect them getting a lower bowl bid. Oops! Besides the 4 + million per year he got a membership at Shoal Creek(PGA Championship '85 and '93). While it's not Augusta National, it still ain't too shabby for a duffer like him. Also a very high $ amount for assistants. Money we got, but it's championships that we want and need.If it turns out not to be true I will ban myself for 2 months.

Let me put that rumor to bed, SPURRIER IS NOT A MEMBER AT AUGUSTA He has the oppertunity to play there once or twice a year, but has no membership. He doesnt even play golf during the football season. He plays during the spring, but he doesn't play nowhere near what he did when he wasn't coaching. I work in management at a prominant golf course in Birmingham and talked with Spurrier when he was here for media days in the summer. All we talked about was golf and different courses and such.

All members at Augusta only get the opportunity to play a few times a year. Rest of the time they get the course ready for teh tourney.
