The Kentucky Postgame Report

1. The refs were horrible and an abomination. They weren't the reason we lost, but it was obvious who was getting the calls.

2. Cam Tatum is becoming a joke.

3. Our posts have to handle double teams better.

4. Didn't like our rebounding effort.

5. I don't know why Jordan McRae didn't play more.

6. I'm very happy for Renaldo and the half he had today.

7. I'm proud to have Jeronne Maymon as a part of the University of Tennessee basketball team. Love watching him play.

8. I feel terrible and think I'm coming down with something, sorry this was quick. You guys have a good night and let's get the next game Saturday.

Good thing I only caught a few minutes of the 1st half. When I checked my phone and saw that Ky had 14 free throw attempts in the 1st half to our zero then I just laughed. We still wouldn't have won if we had shot 14, but my God, the incompetency of the SEC refs and refs in general is a damn disgrace. I'm sure UT fouled some, but I sure as hell know that Ky did too. The few times I was watching, Stokes was getting mugged.

Oh well, it wasn't going to be a win anyway and we've got our toughest stretch of the conference schedule out of the way and we aren't even out of Jan.

Woolridge with 17 points and our leading scorer says it all. Good for him though.

#8...MAN UP!!!!! :)

Simply put, when those two teams play to their talent level, UK should win by 25 points 10 times out of 10.

If anyone here is surprised by this outcome, what were you realistically expecting? It is what it is. UK starts an NBA roster. Tennessee starts a below average SEC roster. More talent equals more success. Unless CCM makes a serious talent upgrade, expect these types of games against teams like UK.

Im riding back from lexington passing corbin now. Headed home to dandridge. Their crowd was electric. Easy to see why they call it coRUPPt. No way any ref will feel comfortable calling a fair game. Man they hate having any outsiders there. They kept asking where we got our tickets. Man if Woolridge wasnt having one of those games. We would have lost by 40. The unibrow will be one and done thank goodness.

Can't blame this on the officiating. Kentucky was the more aggressive team, and they were playing at home - they're going to get the calls. Let's say the officiating bias cost us 4-5 points - okay, we lose by 20. So what? Kentucky is loaded with elite talent. You can't expect to win a game with that wide a talent disparity unless UT plays its absolute best game (nope) and UK plays its worst (nope.)

That being said, if there's any positives to build on here, UT survived UK's initial onslaught out of the gate (11 for 11. Hard to compete against that.) and played them basically dead even from the 5 minutes in until 5 minutes to go. And that's considering we got goose eggs from Richardson and Tatum, and virtually nothing from Golden.

:clapping:
Post of the night.

To sum this game up quickly, it was a joke and something I hope no UT fan has to suffer through for the rest of this season.

Well Kentucky has the best bought and paid for athletes in the country, not much more to add here. They're in a different class. Tennessee plays a ugly brand of basketball now, slow pace and with all the turnovers, it's painful to watch sometimes.

I actually feel a lot better. I thought I was going to get something bad, but I think something didn't agree with me.

Your concern was much appreciative :)

Officiating took Tennessee out of their game early..Kentucky is a very talented team and I would have enjoyed the game had officials call the the same on both ends of the court.. SEC officials are terrible. Kentucky has a great team and basically fun to watch.

Whether or not the game was poorly officiated doesn't change the fact that UT allowed UK to go 11 for 11 out of the gate. That's just plain crappy defense. UT plays terrible on the road. They look like a bunch of lost puppies. When you are that out of position, look lost, uncertain, you aren't going to get calls.

Yep. Poor defense at the start decided the outcome.

our starts against kentucky and vanderbilt on the road are just inexcusable on the road. you can not afford to get down 20 on the road, nevermind against top teams in the sec, you make the game go from hard to damn near impossible.

I will say that the Cuonz is probably the right guy for UT right now. Stokes is going to be fine, just needs to mature along some.

And friggin Woolridge!!! :eek:hmy:

i think cuonzo is going to be a great coach for UT he just needs to be given time. stokes will be fine as you said, its hurting him having absolutely no guard play what so ever it makes it easy for the oppositions D. even sullinger or davis would have a hard time being great players on our team, you just cant do it all by yourself, hopefully our guard play improves enough by next year to help him out a bit.

He seemed very level headed throughout the game. UT is on the way back up. If they can get past the NCAA investigation into McBee's endorsement from PBR.

Come on people. I like to beat the Cats more than anyone, however-here are the actual facts.

#1. KY BEAT OUR ASSES with TALENT
#2. WE FOULED TO AGRESSIVELY
#3. NO COMPARISON is COACHING

We need to quit the whining- get teh talent level up and pray that the Coach gets in the groove (*WHICH I THINK HE CAN)...I like him.

Bottom line on Kentucky- those guys could beat a few NBA Teams. I am serious. I went to the game- they truly are "ALL THAT" and extremely young. One more thing that I hate to admit......While sitting in the upper arena area at Rupp...I overheard the fans talking about the 2012 class they have coming in and it's incredible-but nowhere close to the 2013 class they have lined up-which I did some research on while at work today. Talk is-the 2013 UK team may be the best class ever assembled in teh history of the NCAA....and that Vol friends is a scary thought. Think about what they have now and what they have coming in the next 2 years. CRAZY. Kind of like Bama ,LSU and Ohio State in Pigskin. UK has reached the top again and I hate to admit it-but it's true. So very true.

im going to hope that you arent serious in saying that UK could beat some NBA teams. if UK was to play a NBA team UK would get andled worse than we did on tuessday night.

now i dont know where your getting your info from about recruiting or if you're just believing what you hear but none of that is true at this point. the '12 class is a nice class but unless they add some top ranked people it wont be the #1 ranked class for the first time in cal's tenure at UK.

now about this '13 class that UK has that is going to be the best in ncaa history? care to share with the rest of us who the guys are that are committed to UK in the 13' class? they have 1 guy that is currently commited to UK, he is a 4 star and is the 35th overall player in the country. you do realize that the 09' class included 3 players in the top 10 overall in the country, as well as other highly ranked guys? maybe when its all said and done the 13' class will look better but until people actually committ i dont know how you can hype up this class for them? are you another UK fan on this board?

I think all us UT fans will be TOTALLY disheartened over the next few years when these players sign with UK. I do think they will get Shabazz and looks like now they are in the running for Nerlin Noels....Good Lord- when does this end? LOL. I am telling you friends- Ky is NOT HUMAN! We better start praying. i'm a realist...and I could see the sincerity of their fans faces up there Tuesday night. those people are very serious about basketball and obviously they have some "in the know" that we do not. What i heard up there was totally amazing to listen to. These people could tell you their underwear size and they are not even signed yet. that place is like the "TAJ MA HAL"

GO VOLS!

they are everything about basketball that is correct but you are taking things a little far my friend.

you are making it sounds as if shabazz and noels are UK locks, there has been absolutely nothing said that would make this a true statement. they are in on both guys yes, but that doesnt mean that they are going to land them either, let the recruiting process play out first. you also stated that the 2013 class is going to be the best in ncaa history, what makes you say this, they have 1 4* players signed, that is not all that impressive.

now a little something about uk fans, they are insane about their basketball and are very passionate this is true. with that said the fact that because you heard some fans rumbling about some recruits makes you think that they are in the know, you have a lot to learn about UK fans. i have heard everything from UK fans such as all 5 players off the 1st cal team were going to return and come back to win a title, this obviously was not true. from living in KY and working with all KY fans while up there, i have heard everything imaginable about things that they were going to do, hell one guy tried to tell me lebron james was gonna enroll at UK and play basketball and he was eligible because he never had been in college, and he was serious. my point is simply, dont believe everything that you hear, especially from a UK fan i am telling you this trying to help you out, do some of your own research on what they say. they say there gonna get noels and shabazz, there is nothing out there that says this, they have as good a shot as anybody left on his list but they arent the leaders for either at this point. when they say the '13 class could be the best in ncaa history, look it up you'll see they have ONE guy committed right now and he isnt even a top notch type of player.

There are about 800 levels of assumption in BBEXCELLENCE's post. The 2012 and 2013 classes for UK have a LONG way to go to even compare to Cal's previous classes, let alone be in the conversation for the "greatest thing since sliced bread" title.
