The Kentucky sports media is talking trash about the Vols and Heupel

Since 1983, Kentucky's winning percentage is 0.451.
Before Stoops arrived (his first season was 2013!), Kentucky's w% was 0.424.
Stoops' w% is 0.482.
If you exclude his first three seasons (all have w% below 0.5), then Stoop's w% is 0.607. This translates into 7 wins in a twelve-game season, or almost eight wins if you include a bowl game. On average, Stoops gives Kentucky an average of 1.5 additional wins per season.
Thanks for doing the work. I have had the impression that Stoops and KY are generally a 5-loss team but had never checked the stats. I know KY is a hard place to win, but I just don’t get the love that Stoops gets.

Sorry, but after last year's embarrassment at Neyland, nothing that comes from the world of Kentucky football (fans or media) should be taken seriously. Those a** clowns had the audacity to be confident heading into the game despite the fact that 1) they almost never beat us, 2) we were having our best season in a long time and found ourselves in the top 5 of all rankings, 3) it was in Knoxville, and 4) we had just scored the most points against Alabama of any team in the past 100 (ish) years.

In some of the dreadful seasons before that, I could possibly understand them feeling like they had a decent chance, but last season there wasn't a snowball's chance in hell they'd win the game. However, despite the many pieces of evidence telling them otherwise, their fans still acted the fool and transported themselves to an alternate universe where Kentucky is something more than an SEC football afterthought.

I can handle hopeful fans who are reasonable. That's what many of us were during the bad years, after all. But Kentucky fans are so jaded by losing and little man syndrome that they simply refuse to operate in the shared reality where the rest of us live.
The K stands for Klueless.

Sports Talk J on YouTube posted a clip of them taking jabs at Heupel and the Vols. They say we're overrated and Heupel will get exposed by this year's tough schedule. Heupel is undefeated against them and we beat them black and blue last year. Will Kentucky ever learn? Tennessee doesn't lose to them unless we are at rock bottom, but we're on Rocky Top!

I watched the clip, and like everything, this is the only time of the year that KY can talk smack. Let's see what you got on the field.

This happens every year. And honestly I’m glad. As long as Mark Stoops stays at Kentucky, Kentucky will never reach their full potential as a football program. I see so much potential in their football program, but yet their fans are happy with a coach whose 2 and 7 (maybe 2 and 8 now?) against their biggest rivals. And honestly the media feeds into it with their bigotry of low expectations towards the Kentucky program. I say this every year and I will always have to, until they finally wake up and go get a real coach. What has Mark Stoops done?? What has he actually accomplished? Some worthless bowl game wins and beating a 4-8 and 3-7 Tennessee team?? The 2 worst Tennessee teams in 120 some odd years of Tennessee football. Do you know what the truth is? The truth is Mark Stoops will never leave that program because I think he knows he’s average. Any other program would have fired him along time ago, but UK is happy with average. And so that’s what they’ll always be. I hate that program with a passion but I can see that they have the ability to compete for championships. The truth is that fan base is happy with being elite in basketball and average in football. And Tennessee will reap the benefits aslong as it is that way
You see more potential than I do

Kentucky fans always love to include the possibility of somebody other than Kentucky beating us. It’s their bedrock of hope…the one thing they hold on to is that Georgia, Florida, or Bama will beat us.

For all the weirdness around how we can't beat Florida consistently I always thought we were cursed, but it seems as if most schools have that. To Kentucky, we are their Florida. I suspect we feel about KY how FLA feels about us. It wouldn't surprise me if some of the comments on Florida boards about us mirror the comments about KY in this thread.

Ever since I went to a game in Gainesville back in the 90’s, it’s never occurred to me to consider what they feel about us. That was the most backward, hateful den of stupidity I’ve ever had the displeasure of visiting. We don’t exist on the same moral, cultural, or sociological plane.

I went to UT in the 80s and had an internship at IBM in Lexington. I was at the laundromat chatting with a UK student. He asked “So, how’s yall’s team looking next year? Lost a lot of offense”. I was like “no, every key player is back”. He scrunched up his face and said “Wait, are you talking about football?”. I stared at him and said “uh, yeah“.

All you need to know about UK football.

Just seen a video on YouTube of this guy calling our beloved Vols stupid. He be a Kentucky fan because all I’m hearing is how great they are. I pray that we steam roll them again on their home turf.

You know your relevant when other fanbases and their media start attacking you.

Yeah it wasn’t long ago that their talking heads and fans had written off Tennessee for a dead program that would no longer compete for the East. I remember some of their fans thinking they would ascend to fill the vacuum.

There has been a shift when a Top10 transfer QB goes to UK and the Gators got Graham Mertz.
Still scratching my head about Devin Leary going to UK.
They will have a shot at a decent season, but I don't expect their coaching staff to impress very much.
