I'm too young to remember much about Carter's campaign, I just remember the bitching about how bad he sucked and the joy the adults had when he was thrown out of office.

I'm pretty sure it's not a perjury case. What the DA has is a mystery to me, I read that he was trying to say that the payoff was a campaign expense that wasn't reported as such no matter where the money came from.

DA better have some compelling evidence.

Anybody else recollect a national politician arrested over campaign finance laws? I can only recall them getting fined and 'paying back the campaign.

I've never heard of a local DA charging a politician with federal campaign violations.

You ask 1,000 randomly selected republicans, "Do you feel that the democratic party is trying to destroy America?"

You ask 1,000 randomly selected democrats, "Do you feel that the republican party is trying to destroy America?"

What would be your estimates of the the results?
Republicans: _______% would answer yes.
Democrats: _______% would answer yes.
