Pecker testified that he promised to be "eyes and ears" because he knew the Trump Organization had a "very small staff." Pecker said he promised that, if he heard anything negative about Trump or anything about women selling stories, he would notify Michael Cohen, as he did over the last several years.



Edit - Appears to be semantics. The paying did not happen until 2016 but the relationship existed much longer.....

Notifying Cohen is one thing, catching and killing the stories is another.

I'd say the biggest take away from today is that Trump paid a sleeze peddler buddy to catch and kill bad stories about him while promoting BS (aka #fakenews) against his political rivals.

Yeah, but this gives Trump's side the avenue to say it's been a long-term relationship to notify of any allegations to prevent personal/professional shame. John Edwards created a precedent here with his case....

Edwards got off in his case because he showed it was done partially to prevent personal embarrasment.

Trump's second crime is awfully similar to what Edwards was not convicted for...

There are also differences between the two cases, observers noted, with one of the most notable being the timeline of the payments.

The payments to Edwards' mistress began in 2007 and continued after he suspended his campaign, while Daniels received a one-time payment just before the 2016 election.

"It's really hard to believe that the primary motivation wasn't to prevent it from coming out and affecting the presidential election," Brett Kappel, a campaign finance law specialist, said of the payment to Daniels.

Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see how the trump team explains away how they documented the payments.

If this was I serious issue I could understand, but this is a felony trial about an NDA payment labelled as a legal expense. Kooks. At this rate, society is going to have to reclaim this country because it's going down the toilet bowl otherwise we'll be finished in a few decades. There are 55M people in this country not born in America, the left is breeding and developing America haters and are trying to project this title on the opposition.

I do think the bigger issue might be what the Enquirer paid and did not get reimbursed for. I think that's your second violation much more than trying to compare/contrast Cohen's role and Edwards wealthy friends.

Trump being cheap and not paying for all Enquirer stories might be his downfall here...
