The (many) indictments of Donald Trump

Trump’s biggest mistake was running for president.

Had he not got involved in politics, I doubt any of these allegations would have happened nor would most people give a crap.

I don’t think Trump is a good person but the people whom used this as a political stunt to remove him from the ballot aren’t any better than him.

There’s corruption on both sides and you damn well know it.
I agree and with that in mind, I don't get why Trump insisted on running again. If he'd announced 2 yrs ago that we was no longer going to run for President, all this stuff would likely be dropped or wouldn't happen; all the while he'd still wield a tremendous amount of political power

Agreed to a point. They were always going to try to punish him for winning in 2016 I just don’t think they would be trying to destroy him if he wasn’t running again.

ehh........ I think that is just when social media became mainstream.

The division really began when the Dem SOTH screwed Bush 1 over the tax increases. It’s only gotten worse with social media and the increased size of the federal government.

Well done Dems; Well done 😂

"'For a Republican like myself it's all very embarrassing,' said a retired electrician in North Carolina, one of the battleground states. 'It's like finding out your sister is a prostitute.'"

I'd go back to that and the Robert Bork and Clarence Thomas hearings. Since then it's been partisan back and forth with one bad precedent after another doubling down on stupid.

All I can say is that whoever the Dems nominate in 2028 better not ever have even removed a mattress tag because he or she is going to get investigated and charged for anything and everything.
A new precedent has been set and there is no going back. I woke up yesterday in a Constitutional Republic. I went to sleep in a Banana Republic

It's not a big deal. Maybe it's a misdemeanor. He classified the payments wrongly. Whatever. There's no victims here. No one was harmed

Well, just because no one suffered a particular damage does not mean a crime was not committed. For example, you randomly shoot at someone and miss, but just because you missed does not mean you did not commit a crime. Here, Trump and his team tried to hide the payment to Daniels, first with an NDA (which is legal) but second by cooking the books to hide the fact of the payment (which is illegal).

Having said that, for purposes of sentencing I agree that the fact that no one was injured materially matters and will help Trump. I don't think this should result in jail time. I also agree that in terms of politics its not going to be meaningful to Trump voters because its not like the first time Trump's very poor and weak character has been exposed. This is just one more in a long line of examples of that and won't change anything.

Character used to matter to Republicans. Used to.

DWIGHT EISENHOWER (1890-1969)
The qualities of a great man are "vision, integrity, courage, understanding, the power of articulation, and profundity of character."

RICHARD NIXON (1913-1994)
"With all the power that a President has, the most important thing to bear in mind is this: You must not give power to a man unless, above everything else, he has character. Character is the most important qualification the President of the United States can have."

Or even further back when the Democrats decided to get rid of Nixon whatever it took. That’s when no holds barred politics really took off

What are the SOL of these charges in NYC??
Quick albeit not deep search shows 2 years for misdemeanor charges and 5 or felony charges..wasn't it 2017 or before when the act occured?

See below.

In calculating the time limitation applicable to commencement of a
criminal action, the following periods shall not be included:

(a) Any period following the commission of the offense during which
(i) the defendant was continuously outside this state

When the Dems used the tax increase against Bush it became clear that compromise with them is futile.

This election will come down to who is the least apathetic for their candidate. Make no bones the majority of us will be holding noses and shaking heads on election day. You may be convicted the other candidate is that bad, but i don't know many that think either is that great. I know there is a very loyal contingency for both. I am speaking to those in the muddled middle.

To the apathy and turnout end, I don't think this case will have the result intended by those that pushed it.

Boy these debates will be interesting. I think whoever wins them seals this for good.
