The professional victim has been kicking the legs out from under every agency that could hold him accountable since the beginning, spare us the theatrics. This election will come down to who is the least apathetic for their candidate. Make no bones the majority of us will be holding noses and shaking heads on election day. You may be convicted the other candidate is that bad, but i don't know many that think either is that great. I know there is a very loyal contingency for both. I am speaking to those in the muddled middle.

To the apathy and turnout end, I don't think this case will have the result intended by those that pushed it.

Boy these debates will be interesting. I think whoever wins them seals this for good.

I can't believe that at this point anybody is waiting for a debate answer to sway them to either of these goofs.

Well, just because no one suffered a particular damage does not mean a crime was not committed. For example, you randomly shoot at someone and miss, but just because you missed does not mean you did not commit a crime. Here, Trump and his team tried to hide the payment to Daniels, first with an NDA (which is legal) but second by cooking the books to hide the fact of the payment (which is illegal).

Having said that, for purposes of sentencing I agree that the fact that no one was injured materially matters and will help Trump. I don't think this should result in jail time. I also agree that in terms of politics its not going to be meaningful to Trump voters because its not like the first time Trump's very poor and weak character has been exposed. This is just one more in a long line of examples of that and won't change anything.

Character used to matter to Republicans. Used to.
