The meltdown on UF messageboards

i think it's funny that TN fans, GA fans, and FL fans are all complaining about the same things happening around and in their programs, and all of us are looking up at BAma shrugging our shoulders....

are there really any discernable differences in our three programs right now? lol.

at least i can say "at least we beat those two".:)

we're all in the same boat, grab an oar and get to rowing.

Great post.

Winning the East amounts to a participation trophy these days.

Bama is to CFB what UConn women's hoops is to CBB...without being subjected to watching women's hoops.

No offense Florida fans (okay maybe a little offense) but I'd love to see Kiffin go to Florida. They deserve each other

Well u all wasn't supposed to be good neither was Georgia . We was supposed to win the east and compete for the playoffs . Big difference

So your coaching staff is on notice less than two years in, while you're in the driver's seat in the East, coming off a SECe Division title. Meanwhile, our staff isn't, almost 4 full years in, while needing Florida to lose to have a chance to win a putrid SECe, having won absolutely nothing thus far. I'd say that defines these two programs quite nicely.

Well unlike UF, UT has beaten two of the four teams worth a damn that they have played. UF has only played two teams with a pulse and got throttled in both contests.

Of course to even that out, UT lost to a trash USCe team though.

It will never happen (as a HC), no offense taken.

Not even OC. His douchebaggery when at UT those three weeks cannot be overcome

Yeah realistically I don't see Kiffin ever landing at Florida in any capacity (of course I don't think anyone saw it coming at Bama). But I'll agree definitely not HC, I don't see that job even being open for a few years, if even then. It's hard to get a read on McElwain's upside there.

I DO think, though, that someone somewhere will give Kiffin another shot at HC. And his ego will take it. It'll be a terrible decision by whatever school does it, but someone will give him the shot.

i think TN fans are too close to the Kiffin situation to be objective on it. myabe SEC fans in general when it comes to him being a viable HC.

i do think though that his time in Tuscaloosa working with Saban, and showing his x's and o's chops will benefit him going forward.

his problem will be if he lets his ego get in the way of taking a job that he thinks may be beneath him....in a conf that he may think is beneath him.

i know this, i don't want him winding up at another SECE school. but could he take a mid tier job in the ACC, Big 10 or Big 12? maybe. i think the Pac 12 has seen enough too. so if it's a power 5 school, it's probably a school in one of those other conf's....

yeah. and while i have serious reservations about CBJ, it is worth treading lightly when trying to compare to Bama.

it's just not comparable. so is patience prudent? is playing for 2nd, 3rd or 4th what we have until Saban is gone and the "force comes back in to balance"?

even in the west, as dominant as they've been over the East, it's not like Sumlin, Freeze, Malzahn or Miles have been able to do much with Bama over hte last 5 years....and LSU has reacted....but are they really going to be that much better off than 2nd in the West, no matter who they hire?

the problem GA, FL and TN have right now is that we are all 3 competitive with each other.

but is that good enough for any of us? when all of us kind of suck?

jeez. i can't believe how true that statement is right now.

Not to mension he was fired from Oakland and USC where he had loads of talent. No big school is gonna risk putting their program in his hands. He will have to go to a middle tier program and prove he has the maturity and know how to run a program responsibly.

I'm so tired of his name coming up for every opening. Les Miles would be higher on the list than Kiffin but everyone mentions Kiffin because it gets people talking.

It's also telling that many UT fans are clamoring for Les Miles, who was fired because he couldn't get over the Saban hump...as if anyone else has come closer since Urban Meyer left Gainesville because his wife was banging Billy Gonzalez and he allegedly got a coed pregnant he wanted to spend more time with his family.

:eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol:

i am firmly in the "no to les miles" camp. if we're going to do that...we might as well hire Fulmer back. both really good coaches with giant achilles heels....Saban/Bama, Spurrier/FL...

anywho....in terms of "we are where we are"....i don't see any of the three making any significant changes on the sidelines this season. someone is going to win the East, and there'll be a modicum of "enjoyment" for whatever fan base that is. and it's waaaayy too early for Smart to be in any real trouble....and CJM just won the East and 10 games....he's got a little credit built in.

Jones is squarely still in "show me" mode.....

yippee!

This. So much this, unfortunately. As bad as I hate to admit it.

And yes, I'm aware of the West's record over the East and it's not even close. I get that. But in many ways, the West love is similar to the whole SEC dominance thing.

"We are the SEC/SEC West, look how good we are!" When in reality, we are all just riding Bama's coattails and claiming their success as our own. It's them and then everybody else. For now, Its their world and we're all just living in it.

the SEC as a whole is down. but the East is just bad. the West is still respectable, but not on Bama's level....but no one is right now, anywhere.

i think in the EAst, you just don't have a lot of good/great coaches...lot's of newcomers and ?'s about everyone else.

overall, i think QB play is average at best in the SEC, and as a result of that, and the defenses in the league, the offenses just don't pass many eye tests....

10 years ago you had Saban, Meyer, Richt, Fulmer, Spurrier, Miles, etc....holding down the coaching gigs...you had qb's and offenses making highlights.

these days....not so much. it's Saban and.....and the offenses just don't leave much to be desired. some great defenses....yes. but no offense close to being able to match up, which leaves a void.

the SEC is starting to look like it did before the fun and gun. and somoene is going to figure that out and we'll see the next offensive explosion from someone in the next few years......
