The meltdown that is happening on the Vandy message boards

Home field advantage at Vandy, lol? Now all the fans (the player's parents) have to drive farther...

I don't get why they are complaining, wasn't next years game supposed to be at Ole Miss? It was at Vandy this year.

And we just won the baseball series against them with shutout, 7-0.

What were you saying about "Our State" Vandy?

it doesnt matter where they play Ole Miss. Ole Miss will beat that azz. So will Miss St. they may be really good next yr.

I just saw their 2014 schedule. No wake forest for them next year?

Apparently Wake Forest is too tough for Vandy to risk playing. There should be some rule against a Div 1 Sec team playing UMass, Temple, Charleston Southern, and Old Dominion all in one season. They could find similar competition from local high school teams, and not have to pay nearly as much for the "payday" games.

They can't afford to lose to Ensworth. That loss might eliminate them from bowl contention.

That has to be the worst non-conference schedule for an SEC team I've ever seen. 1 FCS team, a team that will be in its second season of FBS, and the other 2 are 2 of the worst teams in FBS.

They are also the only team in the SEC East that doesn't play Alabama, LSU, Texas A&M or Auburn and their game with Ole Miss that was supposed to be on the road this year will now be in Nashville. It is not possible to be in the SEC and play an easier schedule than this.

It is the only way they can have a home game that their fans outnumber their opponent's fans. Already complaining about Ole Miss fans will probably outnumber them at LP.

their OOC is one of the weakest slates you will ever see in CFB. However, In the SEC, they will probably lose to UGA,Mizzou,S. Carolina, Ole Miss, Miss St, Florida, and probably UT. they are about to take a huge step back. so much change, so much attrition, brand new schemes. Its not like it was a juggernaut of a team before all those changes.

And OM's fans will. It was 50/50 last year at Commodore Stadium, and that was just a 40,000 seat place. OM still had plenty of fans that could have come to the game, but with Vandy, that was about it.

Good Lord, I just realized ODU jumped up to FBS.

Seriously, since he loves being such an activist, Slive needs to explain to Vanderbilt they need stop embarassing the conference and quit tiptoe-ing throught tulips in the OOC schedule.

That's laughable.

Not really. When you have a team of Vanderbilt's caliber, you tend to turn a blind eye to the weak OOC games they schedule because it makes your overall record even more impressive. Most of the SEC teams tend to have at least one non-conference game that's from one of the big five conferences that's lauded as a decent match up.

But Vandy on the other hand has historically a flop for a football program and can get by with the powder puff games because if they were playing a serious opponent every year, that's just another chalk mark in the L column. And that doesn't help the SEC stats one bit.

If they continue to (doubtfully) have 8 or 9 win seasons, I don't think they can continue to justify a weak OOC schedule without scheduling someone from the PAC-12, B1G, ACC or Big 12.

they play Miss St in Starkville this yr and their fans do not understand/accept that they will be a real good team this yr. they also dont understand you have to have elite talent to run a successful 3-4 in this league. they clearly dont have that either.

I get that to a degree.

My main issue with it is the crawfishing out of any decent series they had scheduled.

At least pick up someone like a Ga Tech, a Cincy, or UVA every once in a while.

So out of their 4 OOC games, there's only one team that's been in the FBS longer than two years? Wow...

I can't wait for reality to set in when they experience the painful 3-4 transition.

even their good defensive players that they will be counting on will have played 2-3 years in a whole different scheme than what they have this yr. i just dont see it working out very well. If Bama, UGA, UT, struggle big time in the first yr of a 3-4 then VU will do the same.

Vandy used to schedule a decent OOC opponent each season but never won. They used to play Notre Dame, Michigan, Georgia Tech, and I even count Northwestern and Rutgers as decent.
