The Memphis Postgame Report

If he sticks with thr same lineup and we get down double digits, yes I'll be worried.

If he goes with same starting 5 and we're up double digits why would I be worried?
What have you seen that makes you think they'll be up double digits on any one if they play like they have most of the season and like they did in the first half of their last game.

Not a whole lot, but if golden shows he's healthy in practice and he proves it in the first 5 minutes Wednesday, then I've got no issue with it.

And like I've said, I don't think the injury is what's effecting mcbee's shot.

That starting 5 beat 13-1 Wichita State, when healthy they're a good team.

You know what they call that one exception in a sample size. The outlier.

I understand that, but what "bad" loss has that starting 5 suffered?

The SEC is awful, and if we play like we have...UMASS is better than probably 4-5 SEC teams Atleast. Wichita State is better than probably 9-10 SEC teams. We may lose to UKx2, Missouri an Florida, but that's only 4 games out of 18 in conference.

If anyone thought this team was going to go 14-4 in conference even WITH Maymon, they were setting themselves up. When Maymon went down I said this was a 20 win team, borderline NCAA, they still look the part IMO.

12 wins or even 11 and one at the SEC tourney is very attainable when you look at the rest of the SEC.

Lol no such thing as a slump? And I don't think he was shooting 39% from 3, he hasn't been that high all year iirc.
I checked the stats.
He shot 60% at home against Kenny state.
He shot .3870 through the GT game.

I'd have to agree. He has been around 33% for much of the year, which isn't awful, but when it's your supposed specialty, well it's not real special.

Edit: I'm not sure when the supposed injury occurred, but I imagine it hasn't helped his shot.

Let me get this straight. You would rather the team score 62 against memphis instead of 80?

Again if they bring the d like they usually do I would still rather scored 80 than 62. To each his own though.

I'm saying I'd rather score 62 and win than score 80 and lose. I'm saying I'm totally okay with our down-tempo style if it wins us games.

It was a reference to people's complaints about our offense despite the fact that we were winning. That's all.

Yes! Still sucks to lose, but that game was more entertaining to watch for fans and recruits. Most big name recruits do not want to play slug ball.

Ahahahaahahaahahahahahahahaha. :crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy:

It was a sarcastic and rhetorical question!!! And yet you said yes anyway!! Holy ****!

So you'd rather lose and be entertained than win ugly. Winning is no longer the priority in sports. That's what you're saying.

Pa....the.....tic. Pathetic.

It doesn't have to be one or the other. You can still appreciate winning, and not be entertained by the style of play. Of course we all want to win, and at the end of the day, that's what matters. You're not going to find anyone here who will say they want to see us lose in entertaining fashion moreso than win in an ugly fashion. Most would just prefer we win with an entertaining product, all things being equal.

Never mind appears it may have been virgina game, although nobody has specifically said when it was injured.

Anyway if that's the case, he shot 40% against Presb, so..........

That's what I thought too. Then I saw this:

Honestly CNCChris, I totally agree with your point. I'd absolutely prefer an 83-80 win to a 36-33 win. But that's only because they are both wins. I know you're with me on this.

Take your time and slowly read this so you might understand . I prefer a faster paced game . Basketball is more enjoyable with scores in the 70's than the 50's

Which half of the Memphis game do you prefer? The crowd at the game seemed to enjoy the 2nd half.

I agree completely. In general, games in the 50s aren't fun to watch, while games in the 70s are. But you just said you'd rather lose in the 80s than win in the 60s. No true fan would ever prefer a loss to a win. Ever. Under any circumstances. When it comes to my teams, sports are less about entertainment and more about getting wins. When it comes to other teams, sure I'd prefer entertainment. But this isn't about other teams.

I prefer the second half because we played better, not because we played faster. I prefer the second half because we outscored them. I prefer whatever gets us the win.

Yeah I'm with you. I just think he was saying that it was the most entertaining game, regardless of outcome, because of the pace. I would agree. Of course, I'd have preferred to win, even if it were an excruciating 38-37 win.

I am so sick of losing to our rivals in every sport.

This is a very difficult time to be a Vol Fan. We are pathetic in many sports, even the Lady Vols are not what they once were. I want to think Butch is gonna be the answer- but deep down I must admit that I really dont believe it. He will be better than Dooley ( not that hard) but it will be 10 years before we are back on top, if ever. You cant beat 5 star guys with 3 star guys, it wont happen. The football program is on the edge of a cliff, couple more bad years and interest ( and money) will be scarce.

It was not gonna when us that game and will not win against a lot of good teams.

So, will we see a starting line up change against Ole Miss and a faster start in the first half?
Will you be worried if Martin changes nothing?

Cuonzo today: Trae Golden and Skylar McBee are starters, but they need to play better and shoot better.

No changes to starting lineup.

Hopefully the trigger is quick, can't afford to keep getting down double digits and relying on Lopez to lead us back.

Martin throwing players under the bus like Dooley did will only last so long. At some point it'd be nice to hear him take some ownership of slow starts and quit saying players need to play better and make shots.
