The Merged McFadden Thread

J. Wade and J Heffney will have 17 solo tackles a piece after Saturday, McFadden is that type of back that needs a small hole and then he's off to the races, but my boys in the secondary will be waiting on him, the bad part is that he will have a first down.

If two DBs have to make 17 tackles apiece on Saturday, Arkansas will have won by about 30 points.

Meachem is a great receiver. Rumor has it here that he leaves for the "league" after this season. Any truth to that?
He hasn't said anything about it, but I'd put it at aout 90% that he leaves for the draft. 6'3", good size, fast, great hands, smart, runs great routes. He just needs to show up to the combine and he is a first round lock.

McFadden is a very fine back. VERY VERY fine back.
I just hope we can contain him. Arky's O-line scares me.

He did bust about a 50 yard TD run in the first half of that game but it got called back for holding on Monk.
Uh, did ya ever think that perhaps that's why he picked up 50 yards! Duh! No doubt, he's a good back, much better than you are as a poster!

DMac is an underrated player, but I'm kind of biased in my opinion. I think it's insulting that players who don't face quality defenses(Steve Slaton) could be rated ahead of not only DMac, but other SEC running backs as well.

uhhh i thought they were rated ahead. I also thought west virgina is ranked the 1st rushing offense and arkansas is ranked 4th in the nation.

West Virginia is rated higher than Arkansas, but tell me what defenses they have faced this year? Would Slaton or Pat White have been able to run all over teams had they played an SEC or Big 10 schedule? I don't think so.

I will preface this post by saying I am hopeful UT can contain McFadden. He will rack up a few yards. The ray of hope that I see is this, the UT defense has a strong record of shutting down backs when the opposing team does not have a mobile QB.

Newton and Russell were both instrumental in wearing our defense flat out. There is nothing more discouraging than covering receivers for 6 seconds, and then having your thin D line chase the QB down field 25 yards at a time. Our D line is simply not deep enough to handle that challenge for 4 quarters.

So, I am holding on to the pipedream that UT will be able to slow McFadden because he will be their only key.

Considering the hold was behind the play, it wouldn't have mattered. And McFadden can beat any player one on one in the open field. So yeah it was a legit post.

Arkansas and Tennessee haven't played in awhile, so I'm not sure if many of you have seen McFadden.

There is no doubt he'll have his work cut out for him Saturday against a great Vol defense, but even the most ardent Tennessee fan may have to admit this kid is special.

Please don't flame me. I'm not trying to be obnoxious. I just thought some may want a little insight.

Yeah, he's a good RB... but dude, those highlights suck. Couldn't you find anything better?

I wish I could have. Keep in mind these were highlights from his freshman year last season. I thought the runs against LSU and Alabama were pretty good, though.

I heard he has a bad ankle from Saturday's game. Is this true and if it is, will it affect his game?

Against SC, McFaddedn suffered a high ankle sprain, and bruised shin when he was horse collar tackled from behind.

However, the word out of Fayetteville is that he is practicing at about 90%, but expected to be 100% by game time.

Peyton Hillis, starting fullback, suffered a deep knee bruise and minor sprain, but is it also expected to be 100% by game time. He is hitting in practice and hasn't seemed to slow a great deal.

Michael Grant, starting free safety, did indeed blow out his knee and is out for the season. It is also questionable whether he'll be able to ever play again. Depends on the rehab process.

Can someone post a video montage of robert meachem this year? I think it would look even more impressive than mcfaddens.

Kinda hard to compare the two I think. Since one is a WR and the other is a RB. I'm sure Meachem could never be as good as running back as DMac and vice versa.

I'd love to see some Meachem highlights. The only ones I've seen have been quick ESPN shots.

I know the guys is special.
