The Michelle Wie charade continues...

Yeah, never heard of Ochoa.

The Creamer girl is probably up there somewhere too, right? Wasn't she the other (much less publicized, yet more successful) teenager? Or was that Pressell?

I think Pressell just won a major.

I just love how shes going to try for the John Deere yet again. She can do whatever she wants in the LPGA, but when she gets so much publicity for shooting 20 over at the Deere and guys that barely miss the cut get no mention at all, that's when I have absolutely no sympathy/care at all for her.

She and Danica Patrick really piss me off.

Am I the only one here that's pissed off that she broke the rule by getting advice from her father and she didn't count the 2-stroke penalty for that infraction?

Michelle Wie and Ty Tryon should have a child, then that child should turn pro before leaving the hospital. I just think that would be fitting.

I don't know that what she did really qualifies as an offense since she apparently didn't ask for any advice and what her Dad blurted out - "What about the tee?" - was merely one of the options she had once she declared an unplayable lie. It's not like he told her what club to hit.

Is Ty Tryon still trying to make it? Talk about a career that never got off the ground...

Her playing partner obviously felt it was a violation.

Quad Cities get ready...

The next two months will be full of John Deere Classic commentary in the newspaper, newscasts, and commercials...

And guess who's coming back for her third failure-to-make-the-cut-in-a-PGA-Tour-Event!! That's right... Michelle Wie.

It was entertaining the first year, when she actually came close. Last year she dropped out from heat exhaustion or something... But this year it's okay, she donated $25,000 to the Travis Hearn Fund*.

*There was no sarcasm in this last half-sentence. Travis Hearn suffered a debilitating spinal injury on September 22 playing football for the Rock Island Rocks. He's been recovering in Chicago until recently, when Habitat for Humanities with NBC affiliate KWQC built him a new house in less than 24 hours.

The backlash against Wie is something of a mystery to me. I mean she's a nice, softspoken and articulate kid. She is blessed with tremendous talent. She doesn't talk a ten pound bag of ego to the media. When she's not playing golf, she lives as normal a life as is possible for her.

What's not to like about this kid?...

Don't play with the men simply to get publicity you don't deserve.

How is she undeserving? She hasn't asked for any of it and is prodded on by the marketing machine that is Nike and the dire need on the part of the LPGA for any marketing angle. She is easily the most marketable player that the LPGA has and they are bent on taking advantage of it.

She's extremely young and has had phenomenal success in LPGA majors for her age. She has many of the advantages Tiger had when he burst onto the scene, without the otherworldly putter. She hammers the ball, hits high floating irons. She believes in herself and her ability and probably enters those events believing that she can compete (remember when Tiger got hammered every time he entered a pro event as an amateur). Great athletes are often such because of their unwavering belief in themselves. Make no mistake, she is a phenomenal talent and is one of the few with the mental capacity to capitalize on it.
