The Most Embarrassing Performance Since Wade

no big deal---UT was just flat and overconfident, expecting an easy blowout. They'll pick it up when the real games start.

Yea, getting outscored by 25 points in the second half by a D-II team should have us pretty optimistic.

A major problem from the very beginning of the game was that only two starters were wearing head-bands. I knew immediately we were in trouble.

And not even a good D-II team at that. UIndy isn't ranked in the D-II top 25, or even receiving votes in the polls.

...yet.

Somehow I feel like this may bolster their resume slightly before the next round of voting

That was f-ing pathetic. I have rarely been that embarrassed to watch a "performance" by a UT team since getting drilled by Western Carolina and Frankie King in 1993. I can't even begin to discuss the problems I saw tonight, but I'll hit the highlights.

1. Shooting. I am certain we were less than 50% on free throws and 20% on threes. Unacceptable. I can take the 3s being missed as something that just happens, but free throws were utterly horrendus.

2. If those Mickey Mouse guards were eating us up for the entire game, we stand no shot against anyone with a pulse at PG. I can't believe an undersized DII team beat us by 15 because of two guards. Unreal.

3. I have said for two years that McBee should never have gotten a scholarship, yet every yokel wanted a local kid (just like football). Here's a hint; local kids don't play any harder because they love the T, they usually just suck.

4.I have rarely seen a team collectively crap their pants as UT did tonight. I have no idea where the leadership will come from, but it wasn't anywhere to be found
5. I miss JP. He would've slithered through that zone all night and no one did that tonight. I think there are guys capable of doing so, although nobody bothered.

6. I think it's pretty obvious we need to get the ball to Tobias in the middle of the floor. We were much more effective when he had the ball in his hands (the few times he did.)

All in all, a wretched performance. I hope they are forced to watch the game as soon as they hit the locker room and have a midnight chew out session. I've known a few coaches to pull this and this effort deserves such a treatment.

As for the future, I will hope that tonight was an anomaly and certain players will not see the floor much anymore.
all this rage over an exibition game.tell us how you really feel.:eek:lol:

Remember the worst season we had under Pearl and the team underperformed badly in 08-09? Guess what was happening?

Bruce's cheating got out and was going through a pretty ugly divorce.

I'm started to wonder if Bruce can coach when his personal life isn't looking too hot.

Well maybe you should cry about it...Oh wait you already did that :eek:lol: The game mean't NOTHING...Might have been the best thing that could've happened to this young team....Now they can work harder and make some adjustments..Maybe it will light a fire under their butts now.
I don't care if you are playing the Pittsburgh School for the Blind. Nobody should not play with more intensity. That was just terrible.

Wonder how we know that this is the first time in program history that we've lost to a DII team? It isn't on our season record, but it will be in the record book and it is a new low for exhibition games. If you don't think this game was an embarrassment, I don't know what it would take to be embarrassing.

I haven't looked, but it might be a section for exhibition games in the record book. If it's an exhibition game, typical rule of thumb is you never include it in your season recaps, etc. But each school media relations department is different.

It's an exhibition game...If Tennessee dropped a game to Belmont, then I'd be worried. But trust me, I don't read much into this. It's a game that doesn't affect Tennessee's RPI and it's a learning experience.

Would you rather lose to a DII school and not affect your RPI or record. Or lose to a Belmont/ETSU and it severely impact the team's RPI when looking for a high seed later in the year?
