"We on VN have voted....we are going to win 7 games. Take us to the Birmingham Bowl already" right?
Eff the field, we've decided, right?

You dream of winning 7 games and the best you can do is Birmingham? Set your dreams a little higher.

Back to the OP, I agree that UF should be a winnable game. However, I feel for UT to have a chance against the Gators the Vols must have decent showings against Oklahoma and UGA. I'm not saying they have to win, but a couple of beatdowns won't be good for the rest of the season.

We need to worry about Utah State, they got a good football team, they could come in and beat our azz if we are looking down the road, we are way to young to just show up and the other team just lay down, before the kick off, now if we could run the clock up to 2016 we could go in the Utah State game bare footed and kick there azz.

We're gunna beat those slack jaws through the turf into the dirt, with little effort.

Hey OP you're right, UF is most important, will be a win, in front of 103k plus. Georgia game atmosphere last year x2.

I used to think that about Utah State, but I did a little research on their roster and they are basically a 2* talent team with a few 3* athletes sprinkled in. We are more talented than USU at every single position. If talent usually wins, then there is really no excuse for Butch to not have this team ready to open the season with a 2 TD win.

I say Utah State also. It sets the tone for the season. If Worley could throw for 350 and Lane/Hurd/Scott could rush for collective 200 yards it would ease my mind some for OL concerns and be a confidence boost for Worley. Vols win 38-17.

Flarduh!

Why? We will most likely enter that game 2-2 and 0-1 in the SEC. A loss most likely means we're sitting at 3-3 and 0-2 in the conference heading into a brutal stretch of @Ole Miss, Bama, and @USCjr. We could every well end up 3-6 and 0-5 in the conference at that point with a loss to UF.

However, with a win, we most likely enter that brutal stretch at 4-2, 1-1 in conference play and a 2 game win streak and momentum heading on the road to Oxford. UF will be a very tough out and I'd say it's 50/50 right now on who will win.

So let's hear your thoughts - is there another game you would say is more important and why? BTW, don't be a dope and say "all of them" :)

All of them! :eek:k:

Ole Miss! This game is the tweener on the schedule. If we win it then 8-4 is in play!

utah state. we are already counting on 3 out of four out of conference games plus kentucky and vandy. that would put us at 5 wins and needing one of seven to go bowling.

From an outsider's POV...I will say it's definitely Florida. Barring a stellar performance against UGA, UT will be 2-2 heading in, and the game will set the tone for the rest of the season.

Unfortunately, last year was the year to beat them. They have loads of talent, and will be looking to avenge their 2013 season, so it shouldn't be easing pickings for any team against Florida this year. Of course, this is counting on Muschamp being a sufficient HC...If Florida is down again, he's out and UT should have a fairly easy time beating the Gators.

Just depends on how you look at things. I'm inclined to say Vandy because losing to them constitutes the unpardonable sin of Tennessee football. Given the circumstances as well as how Butch has been recruiting I granted a rare indulgence but it still ruined the season and invalidated the USCe win. Beating Vandy should never provide anything to the devout Vol other than the pure relief of avoiding abject embarrassment so it's tough to acknowledge their existence by calling their game "the most important of the season" but these are the times we find ourselves in.

A game ppl aren't mentioning is Oklahoma. This game will be a measuring stick to find out what progress this team has made, and the team can also judge how they're going to stack up against sec competition. So to sum it up, if we get blown out or win you'll know where to set your standards.

Utah State is big one. To make it to a bowl, we MUST hold serve in the games that we are supposed to win. IF we falter in one of these games, that will jack up the season and it will be a long one. Once we get to the SEC, there ain't many "breathers" toward the end. As young as we are though, we have to be ready every week.

Pretty sure EVERY game is 50/50--either a win or a loss. Duh?

I wouldn't begin to make a prediction until I see how we are playing. I think with better players now, even though they are young, the coaching will make a big difference. I think we turn the corner this year--more solid play. Don't forget we are playing in the best conference year in and year out. Go VOLS!

Come on guys, one game at a time. We at Volnation cannot afford to look ahead past Utah St. We just can't. Not at all. Speculation will certainly get in the way of all our goals. So all 2,557 of us online right now at 12:14am EST in no way, shape or form look past Utah ST. it will only be bad for the company and will have an adverse effect on our season.

That's not exactly how odds work, my friend.

By that measure, I have a 50/50 chance of winning the Powerball? Win or lose?

My take: if the Utah St game is a tough win, we will not be looking at a winning season. They are not the team they were last year, and they can't even sniff the average talent of the SEC. We should roll them on talent alone. The FL game is the obvious pick here. Ole Miss might be the one that makes or breaks us, though.

It's the Oklahoma game. Big stage with a national powerhouse. We WIN that game, we will gain more attention with the media.. In a good way.
Utah state is important for this season alone, but beating Oklahoma will bring in rewards for the future.
