If we lose to Utah State, all Hell will break lose. We have to beat them or people are going to go nuts.

Fahr Butch! He's from Meesh-i-gan! What do those damn yankees know about UT football?

I'm paraphrasing, but I think that's pretty close to what we'll hear.

The Oklahoma game where we will be 20+ point underdogs is a big game but it don't mean **** compared to a conference game against a team in Florida who we haven't beaten in a long time. Florida & Bama are the measuring sticks for UT.

You think Bama considered Penn State, Michigan, or Va Tech more important than LSU or Auburn the past few years?

Flarduh!

Why? We will most likely enter that game 2-2 and 0-1 in the SEC. A loss most likely means we're sitting at 3-3 and 0-2 in the conference heading into a brutal stretch of @Ole Miss, Bama, and @USCjr. We could every well end up 3-6 and 0-5 in the conference at that point with a loss to UF.

However, with a win, we most likely enter that brutal stretch at 4-2, 1-1 in conference play and a 2 game win streak and momentum heading on the road to Oxford. UF will be a very tough out and I'd say it's 50/50 right now on who will win.

So let's hear your thoughts - is there another game you would say is more important and why? BTW, don't be a dope and say "all of them" :)

We have uga before Florida this year.uga usually starts the season of pretty ugly,I like our chances against them early and Florida is ours this year

Florida win makes the path to the postseason much easier and takes a big monkey off the back of the program.

If Florida is the most important/make or break game of the year then we won't go bowling for the 4th consecutive year.

What people don't realize or want to acknowledge about Utah State is that they will be no pushover. They are a very possible conference champion, and so are Arkansas State and Oklahoma. We have a brutal out of conference schedule minus Chatt. Granted, I think we start 2-0. Although, depending on what Oklahoma shows up, you never know what could happen. Let's not forget OU barley beat TCU (4-8 last year) 20-17 and didn't perform well against WVU (4-8) 16-7. That game strongly depends on what OU shows up. I think we lose, but you never know.

If we enter the game at 2-2 and then lose.. that would put us at 2-3, not 3-3

and BTW, the most important game of the season is ALWAYS the next one you play.. so as of now that is Utah st

The last win is UTC the week after florida. The point was that we would be 3-3 going into our most brutal stretch, smartie pants

Looking at the schedule it's hard not to consider the Utah State game a MUST WIN. Add the fact that it's the season and home opener that will set a tone for bigger challenges to come, and it becomes pretty darned important.

no doubt 66... The closer we get to the season, the more I want to focus on the game ahead of us, not the games ahead of us. thx

last time I checked you or I arnt playing the games, so we can focus on whatever game we want and it won't make a lick of difference to the team....with that said, utah state is still the most important game right now.

It's Florida for all the reasons you mentioned. You can't lose to Florida for a decade straight.

I think UF is a good pick but I would say any of the 6 teams that appear to be to some degree more talented than UT.

I honestly think Jones is going to handle these 6 that he has a talent advantage over: Mizzou, Vandy, UK, Chatt, USU, ASU. IMO, UT is closer in talent to Ole Miss and USCe than UF but those are road games.

UT's hopes vs UGA are in their secondary. If they are struggling 5 weeks into the season then the Vols have a shot. If they've figured the secondary out then it will be tough. I don't think they have any other obvious weaknesses.
