A lot of people on this board seem eager to get a new head coach. I want to know who you all think we can get that will be an improvement over Fulmer. Also, don't bother mentioning a coach like Bill Belicheck or someone that we have no chance of ever acquiring.

butch davis, pat hill, maybe oregon or Cal's coach. i'm sure there are some others out there that i'm missing. hopefully Cut will be able to solve our problems this year and then down the road he can take over in 2 or 3 years. it all depends on this year and what happens.

We must all remember that Coach Fulmer is still the most winningest active coach (even after a 5-6 season) with a win percentage of .776 (128-37). He reached 100 wins faster than all but five coaches in the history of college football. There's so much more he's accomplished that I think you all should just read it yourself if you have time.

The University of Tennessee would be fortunate to have Fulmer's services for many years to come.

I dont think we need a new coach right now, TNVolunteers23 is right, you cant forget he is the winningest actice coach.... no doubt fulmer has to step it up though but if Fulmer doesnt step it up and we do have to let him go, i wouldnt mind going with Pat Hill out of Fresno State. he is a dangerous coach. anybody agree?

Fulmer will retire in about 7 or 8 years with the highest winning percentage and about 3 NC rings, then Peyton Manning will move in to the HC position and work pro bono.

As some have said, I find no need to realistically want Phil gone. I love the guy and what he has done.

If for some reason in the next 3-4 years, he is gone, I'd like/expect to see these names:

John Chavis
Trooper Taylor (this man will be a very successful HC, and I hope UT pays enough to keep around until his time)
Pat Hill
Steve Spurrier (I hate to say it for many reasons, one being how trendy it would be, but I could expect it)
George O'Leary (I would hate it, but I think he'd be brought up)
Norm Chow (haha, would this be growth or recession; do coaches favor a coordinator job in the NFL better than HC at a huge college?)

Trooper Taylor might fool someone into giving him a shot, he will not be successful. Chavis couldn't get the job at East Carolina. That should tell you about his ability to run a big time program. Pat Hill is looking toward the NFL, not another college job. Chow is too ridiculous a possibility to consider.

I like John Chavis as a defensive coach, but not as UT's headcoach.I would consider David Cutcliffe if Coach Fulmer can't right the ship.

Chow, at this moment, would be ridiculous, I know. However, in 3-5 years, is it THAT much of a stretch? If so, why?

In 3-5 years, Chow will have been fired by the Titans and returned to the college game. He will still have the same number of games as a major college head coach that I will. UT should not be a school that hires coaches on faith.

pat hill, couldn't agree more, schedules powerhouse teams every year ( terrible conf ) and gets his team ready to play .....he'd be a great fit .... but i dont see this coming to fruition anytime soon :whistling: :whistling: :whistling:

I hope UT gets out of this mindset where they have to hire the best available alum and go after the best available coach. Hopefully, and up and coming coach like Pearl.

In the spirit of this topic and I had to choose now I would go with Pat Hill. Although I think he is NFL bound!
