Travis Henry is still our all-time leading rusher. I think Jamal could have exceeded that if he'd had the desire. Did he not say that a year or two ago that he needed to be careful because it was the last year of his contract? I believe he followed that comment up with a very subpar season.
Jamal only played 1.5 healthy seasons at UT. That's why he's not the all-time leading rusher at UT. I find it laughable when people when people question the heart of a guy who has come back twice from major knee injuries.

The guy pretty much admitted his heart was in question when he voiced his commitment to his contract over the Ravens. Plenty of athletes would bust tail to come back from injuries if it meant playing in the NFL. True Jamal was probably a more talented running back, but I don't think you can say that Travis Henry isn't fit to carry his bags.

Rigid, neanderthal methods don't work in today's college football, and haven't in a long time.
Hey now, lay off the Neandertals.

That doesn't show a lack of heart, it shows an abundance of good sense. Why should Jamal do something that might jeopardize his ability to get a big payday? To make a bunch of jealous, ungrateful, wannabes.... er fans happy? I admire guys like Jam that understand it's a job, nothing more. I wish NFL players would start going to fast food joints, auto body shops, etc. and start heckling the Joe SixPacks there because their hearts aren't into preparing fries and doing lube jobs enough. I'd like to see Barry Bonds get to sit in the first seat behind the slobs who heckle him every night and curse at them as they try to do their meaningless jobs.

Notice that I used the lower case version of neanderthal.
Yeah, but I don't have much opportunity to go about my normal business of defending the Neandertals' honor on here, so I jumped at the chance.

bandwagon, lets see what happens next year, and if you think about it no loi on him yet either. I like the clausens and wish we could have got Jimmy, but if he does inevitably go to ND, I hope we rip his head off.

I love that commercial. They look a bit more like Homo erectus than Neandertals, though.

volinarizona it is more than one recruit. ND is having a heck of a recruiting year so far. more than likely eventhough it is early, a top 5

ITS ONE RECRUIT. ONE

Like Brandon Warren? Let's see what Golden Tate does. I'm not saying CPF is not a good recruiter. I just don't consider him an elite recruiter like many others on the board. It's easy to sell a winning program, much harder to sell a loser. We finally had a losing season under CPF and recruiting dipped. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to make the connection. In the meantime, UGA and UF had awesome recruiting years and they CAN develop talent. How long will it take Spurrier to get his train on track? IMO, and yes I'm a broken record here, with the upswing by our divisional rivals we are being positioned as a the perennial 4th place team in the East if things don't turn around immediately. I don't think we can wait 2-3 more years.

Travis Stepens heart had to be bigger than both put together. What happened to him?

Ok I stand correct as far as the UCLA game being 26-26......but still remains the fact that coaches are way too easy now-a-days as for as the players getting to do what they want. They are at school for three reasons. One, To get a great education, Two, to learn to become the leaders of tomorrow, Three, play football at the greatest school in the US, The University of Tennessee!! So when I say we need to get more discipline, its not just for the field but for everything else that comes with it. Fulmer just doesn't fit the profile to me of a coach who demands perfection and discipline. He has lived off of talent way too long now and he is paying the price for not doing what he should have been doing and that is Coaching. Wins are wins and losses are losses, but that still doesn't show me that he is a great coach......Joe Pa and Bobby Bowden are probably the greatest coaches in the game right now and Fulmer is still in the "high-chair" compared to them. I would have hated to play Penn St. or Florida St. this past year cause they would have destroyed us........I just want a coach who wants to coach and not just have alot of talented players and let them rot because the coach is just too fat a lazy. I want our team to KILL KILL KILL everyone in our path. I want a PISSED OFF team to crack some heads. Finally I want Neyland Stadium to sound like a war is going on in there when someone walks within 10 miles of it. I just want some chip's on some shoulders and so evil glares going toward the other team. I want our players to play up to their potential......not be TV and media babies and worry about how good they look on TV........I want our players to want to eat the other teams children so to speak.....and that's why I want Fulmer OUT of UT......he doesn't bring that mentality to the field.....he claps to much and doesn't yell enough.....give me a coach who gets after everyone including the waterboy......is this too much to ask???
WOW!!!

I guess it's good sense to take the field and give a weak effort for an entire season, especially when you are the focal point of the offense. I'm sure Ray Lewis and the rest of that great Ravens defense were thrilled with Jam's good sense and smart business choices. I'll bet witnessing Lewis' shrewd business savvy was worth the losing record and no postseason play. Also, getting involved with drug dealers shows an abundance of good sense. The guy is dripping good sense all over the place.

He's also "dripping" $100 bills. Considering Ray sat out the last 5 games to get completely healthy last year, I'm going to guess he understands the concept of protecting your assets. See that's the difference between how players see the game and how fans view it. The NFL is a violent, nasty place to make a living. Why do you think so many guys publicly ripped Brett Favre for sticking his nose in Javon Walker's contract talks. It's about getting paid. You get all you can, when you can.

Probably would have gotten a lot more money had he not been mediocre the last two years. Now they've brought in Mike Anderson, and drafted PJ Daniels.

So? Jamal's still getting paid at the Franchise Tag rate. The NFL doesn't toss long term money around, especially to RBs approaching 30 with two iffy knees. He's gotten paid top dollar at every step. His decision to protect himself at UT certainly didn't hurt him. Top 10 pick, 1,000 yd rusher, Super Bowl champion. Oh, and that's just his rookie year.
