I would bet that there hasn't been 1 copy of the Holy Bible burnt in a Muslim country, not to mention a Christian being killed for their faith!

If you enter Saudi Arabia with a Bible it will be confiscated and when you leave it will not be returned to you.

Instead of worrying about muslim anger and islamic terroism, some would do better to consider the wrath of the Lamb.

So are you trying to equate America with any of the Islam nations in the Middle East?

He may as well go ahead with the burning at this point. Even if he did call it off, does anyone honestly believe that the outraged Muslims would be put at ease?

When was the last time an outraged Muslim was appeased in any sense of the word by the actions of a westerner.

Good idea? Probably not. Any benefit to be gained by not having the book burning? None.

Rephrasing the issue as "appeasement" is idiotic.

Intentionally antagonizing them by burning their holy book and then saying the reaction is their fault is mind bogglingly dumb.

If a single mosque over there were to burn Bibles we'd have the usual mindless troops in here -- gsvol, MG1968, etc. - insisting that it shows that ALL Muslims hate Christianity and that this is a Holy War.

The threat to wlrd peace is not just their terrorists -- its also those people who cannot rise above their petty and uninformed religious bigotry long enough to understand that theirs is not the only way of thinking about the world.

The guy planning to burn the Koran is a moron. It's a perversion of Christianity to burn the Koran. If any Muslim's retaliate they are morons as well and possibly worse depending on the retaliation. They too will be perverting their religion.

Well, counselor, I challenge you to find one of my posts where I've ever made the claim that ALL muslims hate Christianity.

That said, as an agnostic, I could care less what a single mosque (or every mosque) does to the Bible. Just like I don't give a damn if some nutjob preacher here in the US wants to burn a pile of Korans.

My main problem with this controversy is the politically correct idiocy that seeks to silence free speech because there is some concern that it might offend somebody. There is no right to not be offended.

I think this is the most agreeable post you've made (for me at least).

At the end of the day, they do reserve the right to celebrate their heavenly-mandated arrogance and burn the hell out of some books. I really wish some Muslim-American protesters would rally for this.

Or better yet, fight hate with hate. Have a bible burning in Minnesota to warm the homeless.

So was anything I said inaccurate?

I was merely pointing out the extremely obvious - that calling off the book burning will accomplish nothing. The damage is already done.

Besides, if calling off the book burning to keep Muslims from getting upset isn't appeasement, what is it?

I agree with you that intentionally antagonizing them by burning their holy beek is dumb. While I don't have any examples to cite, I am fairly confident that there are mosques overseas that have held Bible burnings. You just never hear about them because the left wing media doesn't want you to hear about it.

Seems to me that what you think is "petty and uninformed religious bigotry" is really just a firm grasp on reality.

Appears that General Petraeus would take issue with that statement.
