I would bet that there hasn't been 1 copy of the Holy Bible burnt in a Muslim country, not to mention a Christian being killed for their faith!
He may as well go ahead with the burning at this point. Even if he did call it off, does anyone honestly believe that the outraged Muslims would be put at ease?
When was the last time an outraged Muslim was appeased in any sense of the word by the actions of a westerner.
Good idea? Probably not. Any benefit to be gained by not having the book burning? None.
If a single mosque over there were to burn Bibles we'd have the usual mindless troops in here -- gsvol, MG1968, etc. - insisting that it shows that ALL Muslims hate Christianity and that this is a Holy War.
Well, counselor, I challenge you to find one of my posts where I've ever made the claim that ALL muslims hate Christianity.
That said, as an agnostic, I could care less what a single mosque (or every mosque) does to the Bible. Just like I don't give a damn if some nutjob preacher here in the US wants to burn a pile of Korans.
My main problem with this controversy is the politically correct idiocy that seeks to silence free speech because there is some concern that it might offend somebody. There is no right to not be offended.
Rephrasing the issue as "appeasement" is idiotic.
Intentionally antagonizing them by burning their holy book and then saying the reaction is their fault is mind bogglingly dumb.

The threat to wlrd peace is not just their terrorists -- its also those people who cannot rise above their petty and uninformed religious bigotry long enough to understand that theirs is not the only way of thinking about the world.
So was anything I said inaccurate?
I was merely pointing out the extremely obvious - that calling off the book burning will accomplish nothing. The damage is already done.
Besides, if calling off the book burning to keep Muslims from getting upset isn't appeasement, what is it?
I agree with you that intentionally antagonizing them by burning their holy beek is dumb. While I don't have any examples to cite, I am fairly confident that there are mosques overseas that have held Bible burnings. You just never hear about them because the left wing media doesn't want you to hear about it.
Seems to me that what you think is "petty and uninformed religious bigotry" is really just a firm grasp on reality.

Just a horrible, horrible idea.
The guy has had his 15 minutes and its time for him to do the right thing and put a halt to this.
