Obama's the Target of Mexico Gunrunning Probe - HUMAN EVENTS

At first, PresidentObama and Attorney General Eric Holder denied such a program existed.

Four ATF agents who worked in the program, called Operation Fast and Furious, however, answered yes this week in testimony before the House Oversight Committee, chaired by Rep. Darrell Issa (R.-Calif.).

Special Agent John Dodson testified that he was assigned to the Phoenix office of ATF and specifically to Group VII, the designation of the Fast and Furious team. There Dodson found that ATF agents had been following 40 individuals who were known "straw purchasers" of guns for the cartels from federal government-licensed gun shops in the U.S. Gun shop owners who called the ATF with concerns, to report suspicious buyers, were told to complete the sales.
--------------------------------------------

Was Operation Fast and Furious an Obama program to create a self-fulfilling prophecy and accomplish a gun control objective? Again the agents' testimony was clear.

Over 10 months in 2009 and 2010, Dodson testified that on an almost daily basis, he was ordered to take notes, record conversations, videotape gun purchases, make reports and track the movements of these straw buyers but nothing more.

With everyone knowing the guns were headed for Mexico and the drug cartels, Dodson and his fellow agents were ordered to not stop or arrest the suspects or impede the flow of weapons.

When the straw buyers handed the guns off to third parties, ATF agents were told to follow the straw buyers, not the third parties who headed for the border with the guns. When the agents objected, they were told to "get with the program" and that "higher-ups" including "senior ATF officials" had sanctioned the operation.

In a Jan. 25, 2011, Phoenix press conference, Special Agent in Charge William Newell was asked whether ATF agents were ever ordered to allow guns to "walk" into Mexico. He answered, "Hell no!"

Leaked e-mail traffic from spring 2010 documents show that ATF management from Acting Director Kenneth Melson on down were personally briefed in Phoenix on Operation Fast and Furious by Newell.

One of these e-mails describes Melson's intense interest in the program, including getting the IP address for the hidden cameras located in a gun shop in Arizona so he could watch the straw buyer buy guns on a screen in his Washington, D.C., office.
--------------------------------

At this point, Obama said neither he nor Holder had authorized the program, but admitted "mistakes had been made" and vowed to "hold the responsible parties accountable." Holder ordered an internal investigation.

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R.-Iowa) repeatedly sent letters to Holder demanding information. In a February 4, 2011, response letter to Grassley, Justice Department Assistant Attorney General for Legislative Affairs Ron Weich described as "false" Grassley’s assertion that ATF had knowingly allowed guns to be purchased and walked into Mexico.

Weich, a former aide to Sen. Harry Reid, told Grassley that "ATF makes every effort to interdict weapons that have been purchased illegally, and prevent their transportation to Mexico." Challenged on the truth of this statement, the Justice Department says that because the straw buyers themselves did not cross the border but handed the weapons off to third parties, the statement was true. Huh?
-------------

Members of the Mexican Congress think the answer is yes and have opened their own investigation. From the Mexican standpoint, Operation Fast and Furious was an act of war on Mexico.

For Americans of a certain age, the next question is, "What did the President know, and when did he know it?"

Did that PAC, on whose behalf you post, start paying you more? You seem to be very active lately but the content is lacking.

there is definitely something to this. Before this program was made public, the Obama administration trotted out some bogus statistics about how some of the weapons being used by the Mexican cartels were being sold by gun stores in America.

Basically, the administration invented a program to create a crisis, but weren't prepared when "Fast and Furious" became public knowledge. Now they are back-tracking and obfuscating. I don't know of a single American who was killed due to the Iran-Contra scandal, but Fast and Furious already has on it's hands at least one dead US Border Patrol agent.

Obama's media apologists won't go near this and it doesn't look like his supporters in this forum are going bother with it either.

Issa: DOJ Covering Up on Mexican Gun-Running Scandal | CNSnews.com

House Oversight and Government Reform Chairman
Darrell Issa (R.-Calif.) told CNSNews.com in an
interview that he believes the Justice Department
is covering up information relevant to a congressional
investigation of an operation in which the department
knowingly allowed intermediaries of Mexican drug
cartels to purchase guns at licensed firearms dealers
in the United States and then get away without being
arrested or the guns being retrieved.

Last December, two of those guns ended up at the
scene of the murder of a U.S. Border Patrol agent
who was killed by alleged agents of the Mexican
drug cartels.

Issa pointed to two things he says indicates a
Justice Department cover up. First, he cites a
letter that Assistant Attorney General Ronald
Weich, head of the Justice Department’s office
of legislative affairs, sent to Sen. Charles Grassley
(R-Iowa), the ranking member of the Senate
Judiciary Committee on Feb. 4, 2011. Issa
characterizes that letter as a “lie.”

Secondly, Issa says the Justice Department made
excessive and unjustifiable redactions in documents
it provided to his committee.

Additionally, Issa says he does not believe Attorney
General Eric Holder testified accurately in the Judiciary
Committee on May 3, when he told Issa (who also
serves on that committee) that he had only learned
of the gun-running operation—called “Operation Fast
and Furious"--a few weeks before that.

This stuff is getting to the level of deceipt that
brought down Nixon.

Wonder when the lame stream media will begin to
comment??

Head of ATF Likely to Be Ousted - WSJ.com

LG, if this was Bush you'd be on fire right now.

Where's your outrage now?

Too busy calling out Foxnews on "supposedly" false Weiner accusations to bother with guns being allowed to cross the border, huh?

Tough for him to blame Sarah but he'll try.

He's probably still reading emial looking for a missing
comma.

Another leftist hoax that fell flat on it's face.

Over 110 Americans were killed in Mexico last year.

We don't know how many of those were killed by
guns supplied by Obama and Holder but we do
know one American Border Patrol Agent was killed
by one of those guns that were knowingly allowed
to cross the border.

A footnote; our agents working in Mexico must
leave their own guns at the border because of
Mexican guns laws.

Meanwhile Obama allows Interpol officers to
opperate in America in a extralegal manner.

Think they are armed?

Here is the story behind the story.

First Obama and his extremely leftist regime
brought Arizona before a UN council for imagined
human rights violations and then they want to
ratify the gun grabbing small arms treaty.

NoisyRoom.net Blog Archive Agenda Behind Fast & Furious Gunrunner Program

Mainstream media did not report that Obama and Clinton’s claims were false and, instead, perpetuated the lie and the Obama administration moved forward with Operation Fast and Furious to make the lie a reality. To date, Obama has not been held to account for the false information he and his administration thrust forward for public consumption in 2009 and by the end of this article, you will see how this fits into a larger agenda with a purposeful outcome.

The Obama administration instituted their “bottom up” program – Fast and Furious. Their plan, aptly named, was designed to quickly and deliberately put as many U.S. weapons as possible into the hands of straw buyers who would bring them across the border into Mexico and into the hands of the drug cartels. This would ensure that when those weapons were retrieved and counted by Mexico’s law enforcement units, the numbers would then show a larger percentage of weapons coming from the U.S.

I'm going to bump this everyday until you comment on this issue.

ThIs could get interesting. Had they followed the third parties, it would suggest they were interested in tracking the cascade of the weapons. It sounds rather fishy as it is. I hope answers have to be given and enough light canbe shed to discern whether this was a poorly planned sting or a ridiculous political ploy.

This is your mighty "cast him into hell forever and through away the key" post? Because I know if it was under Bush that this went down that's what you'd be saying.

Sad LG. You're so partisan it's not even funny.

OBVIOUSLY a political ploy and it should have been
covered in the lame stream media for weeks if not
months already.

Sipsey Street Irregulars: Sipsey Street Exclusive: Straight from Eric Holder's desk. New "Law Enforcement Strategies for Reducing Gun Violence."

You will note that this memo is dated the same day
as the first Gunwalker hearing, and reverts to the
old policy of catching straw buyers and rolling them,
something the agents at Wednesday's hearing bitterly
complained that they were not allowed to do under
Gunwalker.

Irony compounded.

The above link has lots of links to more information
in the column on the right.

I wouldn't expect an answer from Obama, they'll hang it on some ATF administrator

As fast as you can!
You can't catch me!

The head of BATFE is directly under the control
to Attorney General Holder who answers to the
president.

There is already more than enough on a myriad of
issues to demand the resignation and criminal
prosecution of Holder.

Misprision of Treason: Top DOJ Officials Abandon CAIR Terror Finance Prosecutions

It is a felony offense to know or have reason to know
that seditious activity is underway and do nothing
about it.

The term used in the U.S. Code for such a crime
is “misprision of treason.”

For one, I don't understand why Eric Holder wasn't
cited for contempt of congress when he order
attorneys in the DOJ voting rights division to
ignore subpoenas.

Of course he wouldn't be the first head of an
Obama agency to be cited for contempt would
he??

Sooner or later Holder is going to have to go. The administration has been fighting this investigation all the way (so much for transparency).

CNN says ATF director Melson to resign under pressure over this.

So much for a) the claim that the administration is ignoring it; and b) the claim that the mainstream media isn't reporting on it.

Claim a) is that the administration is stonewalling the investigation - throwing the ATF Director under the bus fits this claim perfectly.

Claim b) the mainstream media is late on this - they are. Hopefully they'll dig in since this is a major goof at a minimum and a major scandal at a maximum.

Knew the (almost) main stream media would be forced
to report on this sooner or later.

Rep. Issa Compares Holder Gun Running Scandal to 'Iran Contra' ... NBC News Panel Left Stunned - Rep. Darrell Issa - Fox Nation

House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa
(R-Calif) appeared on MSNBC's ‘Morning Joe' this
morning to discuss the administration's so-called
anti-gun trafficking program known as ‘Fast and
Furious.'

Issa said the program "looks like Iran Contra," and
began almost immediately after Pres. Obama's
inauguration.

Issa says the plan was intentional: to let illegal guns
walk across the border ‘to see where the weapons
would end up....it was like letting go of the steering
wheel and seeing where the car would end up, but
not grabbing it before it leaves the road.'

"Thousands of AK-47s, pistols and 50 caliber sniper
rifles" wound up in the hands of bad guys. It started
because "it's really possible for smart people to sit in
a room and come up with a really dumb idea."

Authorization of this program, that has resulted in
the death of a US Border Patrol Agent, went all the
way to the head of the ATF and heads of the DOJ,
according to Issa.

In addition to the Border Patrol Agent, an ICE Agent
was also killed with one of those guns that we know
of so far.

PS; Notice ACLG is the first to report the Communist
News Network spin on this horrible boondoggle! :loco:

It's a crappy situation no matter the spin. I'm an embarrassed American.

Why do you even quote people. It's not like those pictures were in response to my post. They would be up there regardless.
