Ver good episode tonight. I wouldn't mind darryl as michaels replacement.

I wouldn't like it. Darryl is good in bits but not as the replacing manager.

The only way I see it working is to bring in someone totally new.

I think i would rather them promote someone that's already there. I think darryl would be good at it, it would just be different than what everyone is used to seeing from michael. My only problem with bringing someone new in is them bringing in a random person that doesn't really fit.

But Darryl's character works as a supporting role. It wouldn't work as pretty much the starring role.

And that's the problem of "promoting" from within, because all of the other characters besides Michael are great as supporting roles, but none of them are great as the spotlight.

And yeah the new person wouldn't fit, but that would be part of the storyline. It's also why they absolutely have to hit a home run with someone who has the character to pull it off. Which is why I'm skeptical it can even work at all.

it's amazing really ... imo they hit a home run w/ all of the original supporting cast as well as with the new members that came in from the stamford branch .. it's hard to think of a stronger ensemble cast in other sitcoms ...

cheers .. wings .. those are both up there imo

Danny McBride addresses 'The Office' rumors, who's in/out for 'Eastbound & Down' | EW.com

It sounds like Danny would love to do the show if he could work it into his schedule assuming he's picked. B.J. Novak (Ryan Howard) is a co-executive producer of the Office so if he is interested than I'm sure he has some input on who the replacement is.

Yeah, I knew he was one of the exec producers. I figured if he wanted him then he was one of the top candidates. I love Danny McBride, and I think it could be funny if used right.

I was thinking the new traveling salesman(Danny) they just hired might end up replacing Steve Carrell.

Paul Liberstein originally wanted Harvey Keitel. Said he would be an old salesman coming out of retirement and already had a plot line written. Maybe he replaced old salesman with top salesman and coming out of retirement with being lured away from another job.

Think about it... Michael offered him whatever he wanted and he used to date Pam. Would be fitting if he took Michael's job and became co-boss with Jim. Plus, Michael made a comment that he forgot about Packer when he hired Danny.

Just a theory. I wouldn't be surprised if Packer left the show too though. Hence hiring someone else to be a traveling salesman. He is friends with Steve Carell in real life and I kind of thought that was the only reason he ever appeared on the show.

Anyways... I just hope it's not Darryl.

Yeah but Packer really isn't on the show. He's made about 6 appearance total in the 7 seasons.

i agree with the sentiment that it's hard to imagine darryl in any kind of lead role in this show. i like him, but i'm not sure if there would be a fit if he were to take michael's place.

interesting that he said he had big plans for the company in the past episode. i'm curious to see what exactly comes of that down the line.

Why are they calling themselves Dunder Mifflin again? Have they just completely bailed on the Sabre story?
This show is just not funny anymore. I wish Pam would leave, not Michael.

Didn't catch that. Last night was pretty blah, but I think the rest of the season has been solid.

I didn't catch that either. The episode started out with Pam standing next to a Sabre sign discussing hygiene with the staff when Dwight had everyone sneezing on him and his food. I'll have to go back and catch that, must have been an error o their part. Also, Dwight was trying to sell printers at the christening which is part of the Sabre storyline.

Not just once. In the last episode, they never said Sabre a single time. It was Dunder Mifflin the whole episode. In last night's, they said Dunder Mifflin and Sabre.

yeah, but just because sabre bought them doesn't mean that they're not necessarily dunder mifflin anymore.....unless i'm missing something and they said in the show that they weren't using that name anymore.

Good catch, I haven't noticed. As far as the last episode, I thought it was a little boring. It had a few funny moments like Michael getting on the bus but they could do much better, imo.

I wish they would do away with Sabre and go back to Dunder Mifflin. I liked David Wallace better than Gabe and the Sabre storyline. They should follow up on Wallace and his 'Suck-It' toy vacuum cleaner invention.

The "Suck-It" theme song was/is pretty awesome.
