The Official “Regular Posters of the Basketball Forum” Thread

Makes no sense that they’d show a game on ESPN news lol

ESPN stopped making sense with channels a long time ago. ESPN News originally was supposed to just be 24 hours of news, then they decided to start putting games on it. They regularly show college football and college basketball games now, and even had a CFL playoff game a few weeks ago and one year I think they had a bowl game on it. ESPNU originally was supposed to only show college sports but a few years ago they starting showing NBA G League games too.

It's funny that it started out a joke in Dodgeball with The Ocho ESPN8, but now with ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN News, ESPN Classic, and online channels ESPN3 and ESPN+ they have almost 8 channels. I guess if you count ESPN Deportes they do, plus they have ownership in the SECN, ACCN, and Longhorn Networks.

Congrats to our football boys. Greatest turn around in SEC. Maybe TN history.
1988 Vols started 0-6 then won 5 in a row to finish 5-6. 1989 Vols went 11-1.
I am not contradicting you. This year is awesome. 1988 Vols spring boarded to greatness, maybe next year could be great

The 5 game winning streak was really the point in time that TN football moved to a higher level. The 1985/'86 Sugar Bowl was a false start (and what really made that team special was their domination of both #1 Auburn with Heistman Trophy guy Bo Jackson and Miami with Jimmy Johnson lobbying for National Championship votes). TN didn't have a losing season after 1988 for nearly 20 years.

I'm pretty sure Miami was #2 that year heading into the Sugar Bowl, and since the #1 team lost that day, Miami would have won the national championship had Tennessee not drilled them.

Like the flag on the sleeve. That would be a great shirt for an away game. Blend in and support the team at the same time.

Edit. Not sure why I quoted you twice. lol
Yeah, they had it in a long sleeve hoodie but I’ve been needing a new polo haha

This is correct. Penn St. was #1 and were playing Oklahoma who was #3 in the Orange Bowl. The Orange Bowl kicked off an hour after the Sugar Bowl, so they were aware that by about the 3rd quarter or so that the winner of their game was the NC. There was talk of a split championship if OU beat PSU and Miami won I believe.
