Man...you really do have some sort of hate towards Fulk.

He's without question our most consistent player right now. His worse game was FSU, who is a pretty great team. Otherwise he's pulling down 5 rebounds and scoring 11+ a game while only averaging 28 minutes.

Unless Plavsic can offer more than 5 & 3 he's not earned the start over Fulkerson.
No I do not lol if you‘ve been over here at all you’d seen the multiple times I’ve complimented his play. He could be a solid role player for us, I just don’t see how any team could win with him in the starting line up though. He got dislodged in the post so many times last night it wasn’t funny. He’s just not built physically for the job on defense and that’s ok.

Name a starting lineup that doesn’t have a role player.

Pro tip: you can’t

To be fair, you penciled in Plavsic to start over him with exactly ZERO games played in 1.5 years of college ball.

You can absolutely win with Fulkerson starting, role players don't have to just be bench players. This team isn't doing better right now, because the backcourt play on both sides of the ball hasn't been good.

Agree
Not to mention Fulk’s D is WAY better than Plavsic’s.

no knock on Plavsic.....it was his first game.....but Fulk is the better player right now.....and for me it’s not even close.

It's sad how many of the good regulars don't even post in the game threads anymore. Now it's just the same usual suspects complaining the entire time.
Which is why you don’t see any regulars posting there. You’re about to see less regular posters in the basketball forum, in general, I’m afraid. The manic depressives have overrun the forum with threads like “Worst Basketball Team Since...”. I have better things to do than Wade thru crap like that, myself. I’d say most others who operate on logic and reasonable thought do, as well. The emotional, whiny, entitled posting that follows each loss, and even some wins, is just insufferable.

Our worst fans are the ones who claim that Coach X, Player Y, or Team Z is the greatest thing ever with no tangible proof, only to claim they are the worst ever when they don’t meet a certain unrealistic/unlikely expectation of said poster.

The people who predicted 24 wins, or more for this team as if it were suddenly their birthright were always likely to be disappointed, but they never took time to logically examine their expectations of this team on paper. Instead, they made an emotional prediction, and in turn, are having an emotional reaction to our failure to meet that expectation. The ceiling, with everything going our way (Turner stays healthy, Plavsic gains immediate eligibility, Bowden takes his play to another level) was still probably 20-21 wins. Anything above that was going to be a real overachievement.

My documented expectation was 18-13, and given our current 10-6 record and considering our misfortunes we have struggled to manage thru, we still only need to finish the season out 8-7 to meet that record. Our recent play is not encouraging. I’ll be the first to admit that. But it would be foolish, emotional, and manic to just assume Rick Barnes suddenly forgot how to coach or that there aren’t brighter days ahead in the future with what we have coming in.

This year was always set up to be a bit of a down year as compared to the past two. Pretending that it wasn’t is being dishonest. That has nothing to do with Barnes’ salary, motivation, or ability. It’s true, he took some shots on some kids that backfired, and that is on him. No one is excusing that, but with the understanding that no coach bats 1.000 with evaluations and not all kids are, or can be coached and/or motivated to want to be their best. I have faith that Barnes will get it fixed, but I’m not naive enough to believe this current team is going to remodel itself to mask the deficiencies they have from a lack of talent and leadership.

Don't feel bad Dallas. one of Fulky's loudest critics these days is Barnes.

For a completely different reason, Barnes feels that Fulkerson isn't living up to his full potential and could be the focal point of the offense. Dallas thinks Fulkerson's potential is limited to being a role player.

Unfortunately so does Fulky.

Yes they can, I’m just not sure Fulkerson is one that can be in the starting lineup and win you games. As you can see with our current record.

Saying Fulky doesn’t want the ball. Kind of like when he says it’s a players decision if he wants to play. What basketball player doesn’t want the ball? It’s a head thing.
Don't think any of our guys wanted it against Florida State. The game where everybody was calling turner a ball hog(paraphrased). No one else wanted it. Saw some of that against GA.

Go to 1:20 of this video. We see this play happen atleast twice every game where the offensive player goes through fulky like it’s nothing.

Well when the crazies come out to play, I go away lol. We already have a thread on if this is the worst Tennessee team ever smh.
That’s why I don’t really post anymore and when I do it’s almost always in this forum. I honestly don’t think a lot of our fans understand the dynamics of college basketball. It’s a long and unpredictable season. For example, last season we went 31-6 and were ranked #1 for 5 straight weeks before eventually losing in the sweet 16. Somewhat abrupt ending to an otherwise dream season. Yet in 2014 we went 24-13, barely made the NCAA tournament (by way of a play in game), and lost in the sweet 16. One squad underachieved during the regular season and the other set school records, yet they both had the same outcome. We’re 10-6 in a year where we lost our best peremeter shooter for the season and have played 6 freshman players with 3 of them starting games for us. On top of that we have an insane incoming recruiting class. The sky isn’t falling.

Is the sky falling? No. We got the three kids signed, we got some young players who should develop. It is disheartening though that A) we won’t make the tourney after two good seasons and B) they aren’t getting better. I think B is more worrisome. I figured with a tough OOC they would struggle and then pick it up by SEC play but it’s been the opposite, even with Turner’s injury. That is what worries me. Multiple players and their development have been stagnant.
