Me 2 or even in the semi-finals in the Final 4, but no where else. As scary good as they looked tonight, they can't play that good every night and not every team will play that soft of defense and lay down like Kentucky did.

Debatable. Zion is a better a basketball player right now, especially on offense. But not everybody is going to play as soft and lay down like Kentucky did tonight. It's one game, calm down. RJ is the one that scares me the most on that team

It’s not debatable. Zion is so far and away more athletic than Pons lol

No it’s not debatable lol. Zion is the best athlete to come out of high school since LeBron and tonight proved it. Did you not see that blow by dunk he had?

And btw Pons is an NBA athlete. But Zion is a different species.

I wouldn't take too much from this game. UK learned a lot more about their team than Tennessee did last night, and they will be better for it. Games like this in November prepare you for March. This UK team will get better, just like every Calipari coached team has. Duke just looked much better prepared and their freshmen didn't seem fazed by the early spotlight. They are really, really good, which is to be expected, but I'm not sure anyone expected that kind of beatdown.

Been watchin 50 year. Don't remember anybody like this guy in college. LeBron might have been close if he played. Who are your other 4 like him?

Sure, but still. They play big first week games every year and usually look better than this. They scored 80+ points because neither team was playing defense, but they still looked lost most of the night. And that's even after playing preseason bahama games together.

I'm not saying they wont be a quality team by season's end, I'm just saying I think the preseason coronation was extremely premature. SI has two of their players getting drafted in the first round on their most recent draft list, which is incredibly down from their usual. Also three players in the second round but it was one at 35 and two in the 50s. And they do not have the size they've had in the past, which is going to heavily benefit us and auburn.

Long story short, in general I think they're going to have dudes get drafted on potential like always, but I think they're going to have defensive issues all season (especially at the guard positions).

Ashton Hagans is a really good defensive guard for them. The others, you may be right. Keldon Johnson is really good, offensively. Herro can shoot the lights out, though he struggled last night, obviously.

I think last night, they were simply outclassed. UK’s freshmen looked like freshmen while Duke’s looked like pros. No team in the country can match up with Reddish, Barrett, and Williamson when they play like they did last night. UK will be fine in the long run, but like you, I was a bit surprised to find Duke #4 and UK #2. I thought going in that that was backwards probably, and last night it played out that way.

Zion reminds me of Shaq in that they are physically at another level then anyone else they will play against. I know Shaq was more size and brute strength but he also had athleticism compared to other 7 footers. I agree Pons is not on Zion's level athletically but he is still elite IMO. I look forward to seeing him develop the next 3 years. I know not to make too many proclamations after one game but I think Duke and Kansas will be the two elite teams in college basketball this year and everyone else will be battling for third place.

I agree. That kid was fun to watch last night and he definitely lived up to the hype.

Karl Malone

Those are the only guys I can think of that size and with that pure athleticism in NBA history

I like the Barkley comparison. He was a little before my time in that I didn't see him in college but certainly had athleticism to overcome being shorter than almost anyone else he played against on the inside. Chris Webber also physically dominated. I remember the way he used to throw down in traffic. I don't think he was on Zion's level though.
