And nearly every 3 in the first half was wide open or not contested.

And as I said Barnes only called 1 timeout. He doesn't call the media timeout
Apparently Rob Lewis said on VQ that they practiced and emphasized the 3 point defense in practice this week. UK does have a lot more than most teams that can shoot it though.

I don’t care how many he called really. A media timeout is still a timeout. Simply seeing how that game unfolded doesn’t scream he needed to use more. He’s actually improved this year in calling more timeouts. We were down one with 3:49 and down 6 with 2:06 left after Lanier’s dunk cut it to 3. The game flow in the last few minutes just didn’t cause me to believe he messed up.

This. I grew up never winning at Rupp and seeing 1 sweep of UK basketball and 26 years later I've seen only 1 more sweep which is the year we had to play them a 3rd time and lost in the SECT Finals. And that was 6 years ago now, and we've been swept by them 2 times in that time span and lost 3 straight home games to them, 3 games in a row to them, and lost 5 of the last 6.

They are our biggest rival and we've been just as good if not better than them in the past 8-10 years yet we're still losing to them. Beating UK is still an important goal of the basketball season to me.
I never expect a win at Rupp. I just don’t and never will.

Honestly I'm just sour we dropped some games we should have won.

at Vandy
Kentucky at TBA

Win the 3 games ahead of us that aren't Quad 1 (Vandy, at LSU, vs South Carolina) and then win 2 of the 3 Quad 1 games and we're a 1 seed. Really is that simple.

But the team has to figure out how to be less streaky from 3, 8 games now we were below 29% from deep and we have 6 left to play in regular season. Last year it was 8 for the entire year.

Couldn’t said it better. Kim Caldwell managed to beat our biggest rival in year one. Js

I mean yeah, we go on a March tear and make another EE or a FF, sure I won't dwell on these losses but I'm not going act like they aren't a big deal either.

I'm old school, I want to beat UK twice, Vandy twice every year, and now Auburn and Memphis if we play them. I mean I want to beat everyone but beating UK and Vandy is something I've wanted since being a kid.

I mean a 2 seed is definitely not the ceiling. But I do think it’s the most likely outcome, which is fine

Yeah...with how they kept Duke up there we have a razor thin margin.

The only silver lining is we know Auburn and Bama got to play each other twice and we get a shot at Bama in TBA.

It's been a bit of a weird season...I knew Lanier would fall off in SEC play, but with Igor, Felix and ZZ stepping up their play was hoping we wouldn't blow what was a winnable game tonight.

Chaz in SEC is 14.9 ppg on 36.5% FG, 33.7% 3PT

That's nearly 3 ppg less and shooting 5% worse FG and about 8% worse from 3PT. March is a bust if he's not better than that.

Maybe I’m in the minority here, but my anger springs less from the fact that we’ve slid to the projected two line, and more so from the fact that Kentucky basketball is my least favorite team in all of sports and I would like not to get upset by them over and over again as we have been recently
I understand. UK just isn’t very good this season and they’re likely going to singlehandedly keep us from a 1 seed. It’s unacceptable with how good we are this season.

I guarantee you his game plan was not to leave guys open for three’s. The last 2 by Brea were contested.

There was a media timeout at 3:49 left, and it was 61-60 UK. That 20-6 run was over 2 timeouts.
Well, that’s kinda the difference between the two teams. They have guys that make tough shots in big spots and we don’t (at least in the series between us this year).

I’m not gonna freak out over this loss - I did that two weeks ago and we rebounded in a big way. But I can’t say I’m encouraged by what I saw. Maybe UK is just our kryptonite on our way to a big finish. Idk.

I've been down this road before, but: if Mashack is not going to ever look to score, our offense is basically 3-on-5 when him and Okpara (outside the lobs) are on the floor. He's shooting 46% for the year, 33% from 3. He can get to the rim. We've seen it. Is he still injured and playing through it?
