The Official “Regular Posters of the Basketball Forum” Thread

I'm all for you shouldn't criticize kids on SM like Twitter, fb etc..... I think it's as dumb as tweeting an athlete about losing a bet( they don't care) but imo message boards are fair game that's what they're for, ans you have to actively seek them out.
Agree to disagree…I’ve seen posts from folks saying some nasty things about kids, that’s uncalled for on any platform.

Sure there's that line in the sand that nobody should pass anywhere.
I'm more speaking to, you should never tweet at or post on fb or an Instagram picture, I hope you don't come back, or we don't want you back versus message board conversation about next years team where someone says I don't want him back or I hope he doesn't come back.

It does not appear that a single reigning champion has made it past the Sweet 16 since 2007 Florida.

None have even made it past the 2nd round since like 2016 (or whenever year after Duke won)

FAU is solid don't get me wrong, but I'd be more worried if we were playing someone else. They beat a slaw Memphis team and a 16 seed. Show up and the Vols should win.

The Memphis team that just the game before waxed #1 Houston…?

I get transitive property doesn’t always translate, but I don’t think in this case 1 game ago should just be totally discounted either. I guess simply put, I feel like folks wouldn’t have near this level of confidence if it were Memphis we were playing, yet that is exactly who FAU just beat…

Memphis beat Houston without Sasser and a couple others I think were banged up. It was an anomaly more than anything imo.

I agree I would be a lot more worried about Memphis but that's more so because of the rivalry aspect. Funny things happen when a team is playing on emotion.

Houston played 7 guys they have basically ran with the same 5 all season, but they have 10 players with 10 or more MPG and of those 10 9 have played in at least 32 games. So without Sasser and then they hardly played Sharp or Chaney and didn't even play Francis.

Seemed like "we got here, that's all we needed to do" they then limited Sasser in the first round, but unleashed him again against Auburn. In short Memphis got a lay-up game against them. Lost twice in the regular season when Sasser was playing though.

I'd actually love to see us make the championship and get Houston with our style of play and size and them having such a short bench I think we could beat them.

They just played them to a 1 point game like 5 days prior, so not sure it was a total anomaly.

I’ve just seen this movie, basketball with fans looking past Loyola just to lose and be pissed, and football this year fans booking their playoff tickets just to have Shane Beamer push our $h!t in

Memphis had just played them to the wire the week before at full strength.

As for Houston, that’s about the worst matchup we could get which is why nobody wanted them as our 1…they are essentially us, but better.

If Barnes was playing with this team in that soft ass conference he would have 30+ wins as well. Houston's biggest big is only 6'8"

(I should add I'm being a bit sarcastic here...I just don't think Houston is a bad matchup against us)

I’d hate to play Houston, tbh.

We beat 2 of the 1’s and most said Purdue would be a decent matchup for us, consensus sure seemed to be Houston was the worst.

I like how 2 weeks ago this team sucked and had no chance, now we've got folks saying we should sleep walk into an E8 and asking for Houston lmao

Pretty much or at least winning the ones you should as the post I referred to was talking about Mizzou and Vandy losses specifically.
It’s college basketball and any knowledgeable fan knows there’s likely a few of those games every season although losing to a tournament team and another that was on the bubble shouldn’t be thought of as “should have won” games IMO.

Manic nature of fans, I guess.

We can beat anyone on any day, but Houston would be one of the last teams in the field I’d want to see. I still think they’ll play Bama in a rematch for the title, even though I had them (UofH) losing to Kansas in my bracket. Had I known Self was going to miss the tournament, I’d have probably played that differently.
