I didn't make it to daylight, but I did stay up to 5. Got up around noon took the dogs for a long walk, in the beautiful sunlight. Then, took the dogs on a weed run, they love to ride. Got high, took the dogs on another longer walk. Life is just better, when the Vols win a huge Tourney game to make the Elite 8. I just want one more win, of course, I prefer 3. But, I fell in love with the Final 4 when I was 8 (1979). Michigan St and Magic winning it all. Larry Bird and Indiana St and I even remember the old 3rd place game, DePaul against Penn, iIrc. Any way, since those days, I have dreamed of the Vols making the Final 4 and it's happening, this year 45 years later. It's happening, Sunday and then when I eventually die, I will think of this team and of course, the '98 football championship with a smile on my face. What a beautiful Saturday morning. The sun is shining. I have a hot cup of coffee, and I flip on the TV and the Tennessee - Creighton game was being replayed on the channel I left it on last night. Just can’t draw it up any better.
The National Champion is coming from our game or UCONN’s game IMO
Agreed. We have a golden opportunity to make a National Title game. I know I should never be disappointed with any result that happens in an E8 game, but looking at our potential matchup against NC State or Duke, we will beat either of those teams. My nerves are already shot thinking about tomorrow’s game.
I just hope it’s watchable this time.
The game in Hawaii was among the worst, if not the very worst college game I’ve ever watched.
The amount of fouls and stoppages was excruciating.
Hope I'm dead wrong, my best guess is that we don't pull it off today. If that happens, this was still a fantastic season, and arguably the greatest ever for us. Can't tip my hat enough to Barnes and the team for such good bball.
Interesting that both Alabama and Tennessee had short stays in the SEC tournament and good NCAA tourney runs. I do think it might help a team to not have the grind of several SEC tournament games before entering the NCAA.
Auburn won the tourney and got upset by Yale in the first round.
Florida got to finals and lost to Colorado in the first round.
I agree. It's also interesting the pundits keep talking about how "no team has ever lost the first game of their conference tournament and gone on to win the title." If UT and Duke win today, 3/4 Final 4 teams will have lost their first conference tournament game which is an interesting nugget.Eh. Illinois won their conference tournament and made it to the E8. UConn is still cooking after winning their tourney. NC State won their conference tournament and is in the E8. I don’t think there is much correlation.
Florida lost because their starting center broke his leg in the SEC championship game. Auburn lost because they didn’t take Yale seriously and Chad Baker-Mazzara couldn’t keep his hands to himself.
