It’s not wrongWhat are our thoughts on this quote from an article in the athletic regarding the Arkansas job:
"Arkansas should be able to attract a strong candidate here, especially as it proved it can compete at the highest level under Musselman. The fan support is as good as it gets in the SEC, outside of Kentucky."
Arky fan base is strong and committed. I think they are at the top of the SEC with Tennessee behind UK.What are our thoughts on this quote from an article in the athletic regarding the Arkansas job:

Obviously DK was generational and maybe I'm more sentimental but I am always sad when talented guys who are VFL play their last game. Also, I would argue we didn't immediately replace several of those guys.Solid college players, but all replaceable outside of Grant. I knew the future with CRB was bright and we’d bring in more players just as talented.
Grant was good but Knecht was generational.
I was sad to see the 19 team go after witnessing Admiral, Grant, Kyle, Bowden, Turner and Bone all grow up together. That was a special time, but I knew Barnes would get higher ceiling players in and we’d be okay.Obviously DK was generational and maybe I'm more sentimental but I am always sad when talented guys who are VFL play their last game. I know people see it this way because DK was such a great scorer and the season just ended, but Grant was a better all around player. His advanced metrics show it. His junior year his WS was 7.9 to DK's 5.7. His OBPM was 8.6 to DK's 8.5. His DBPM was 4.2 to DK's 2.8., Grant's PER is 30.8 to 24.4 for DK. Grant's numbers across the board were better except 2.4 less ppg. His usage was significantly less though, he was just much more efficient than DK and that's why his scoring numbers are similar. He averaged roughly 3 more rebs per game, .6 more steals and a full block more per game. There's a reason he was back to back P.O.Y, that we went 31-6 his jr season. He was absolutely elite.Solid college players, but all replaceable outside of Grant. I knew the future with CRB was bright and we’d bring in more players just as talented.

I don’t see us ever replacing DK, and not sure if CRB has another team this solid.
The next goalpost to be moved is “he hasn’t made a final four at Tennessee hurp durp” like we have a history of those to look back onJust looking at this.
Barnes has taken us to 6 NCAA Tournaments, 3 of them he made the Sweet Sixteen and 1 the Elite Eight.
2017-18 = SEC Regular Season Champ, 1-1 in NCAA
2018-19 = 2 seed and 2-1 in NCAA (first Sweet Sixteen)
2020-21 = 5 seed and 0-1 in NCAA (weird post Covid year)
2021-22 = SECT Champ, 3 seed 1-1 in NCAA
2022-23 = 4 seed and 2-1 in NCAA (second Sweet Sixteen)
2023-24 = SEC Regular Season Champ, 3-1 in NCAA (third Sweet Sixteen, first Elite Eight)
I thought he choked in March?
His ability to draw and make free throws increased his value. Look at how Edey decimated our team by getting everyone in the post in foul trouble. Grant was able to do that to other teams. I love DK but if we could have either him or Grant back another year, I'd take Grant. I'd also take Grant over Allen Houston and Tony White and I love both those guys too.I don't know, Grant's style of offense was just less exciting and I think that's why people kind of have moved on a bit.
He was a better all around player with his defense and the fact he got developed for 3 seasons.
But he scored 30 or more only 5 times in his 104 game career.
at Vandy in 19 = 23 of his 43 were FTs
at Vandy in 18 = 13 of his 37 were FTs
vs Louisiana
vs Lipscomb = 10 of his 30 were FTs
vs Georgia = 10 of his 30 were FTs
He had a few big games against better teams but nothing as impressive as DK this year.
vs Auburn in 19 when he scored 25 and 9 came from the FT line
vs Kentucky in 19 when he scored 24 and 8 came from the FT line
Great all around player.
But DK is just a different breed, and he showed up huge in big games.
Scored 30 or more in 8 games, never shot more than 12 FTs in any of them.
40 vs Kentucky
39 vs Auburn
37 at UNC
37 vs Purdue
Just big stage badass performances...it's not an apples to apples comparison. Like a coal fire stove and a bonfire.
If anything it just makes me more impressed with Coach Barnes and his ability to develop and win with such different players.

Of all the great UT football teams from the 90s, most would’ve had 98 near or at the bottom in terms of likelihood to win a title.I must admit, it has been extra depressing this week as I fell in love with this team more than I have perhaps any TN team. And this team had the ideal combination of experience, talent, and star power that maybe no TN team will have for another decade or more. I want the F4 for this team badly, and I want it for Barnes whose time feels like it is running out.
It’s been hard to reconcile the fact that we maybe squandered our best opportunity to make an F4 we will have for awhile, but I am still very proud of what this team accomplished.
My hope has been shattered a bit that we will see an F4 anytime soon, but I will say that maybe our path will be similar to Alabama. They had Brandon Miller. They had the #1 overall seed. They lost. No one expected this team this year to be the one for them. We still bring back a lot of experience next year, and while I don’t think we will win the SEC again, maybe with a few new portal pieces that can score, and maybe if we have a few upsets in our bracket next year like Alabama did, maybe next year can be the “year after the year” if that makes sense.

DK for me, too. But, I get it with Grant. Give me either/or and I will be a happy, tail-wagging DogThat's your preference, nothing wrong with it. I would take DK back.
