The Official “Regular Posters of the Basketball Forum” Thread

So I almost feel like something deserves its own thread. It's been mentioned, but I can't believe this forum isn't talking about it more: Chaz Lanier's 3pt shooting percentage is insane.

14 games, 46.7% on 8.6 attempts

We are basically talking about Chris Lofton 2.0, and that's not even an exaggeration. This pace would exceed any of Lofton's single-season percentages by a healthy margin with the exception of 46.5% during his freshman year, in which he only put up 6.5 shots/game.
Too lazy to look but what was Loftons highest 3pa per game in a single season?

I mentioned it in my postgame, he’s currently outpacing both Knecht from a scoring standpoint last year and also Lofton (by a wide margin) for the best 3pt shooting season of all time.

Ah, I saw the thread, but haven't read the report yet. Yeah, I'm def rooting for him to break the record.

He’s been unbelievable so far. And just to throw the d aspect to it, IMO not the liability DK was at times.(for 1st year players in this system)

Nobody s**** on Tennessee like Tennessee fans. All the b******* about how everyone hates us and disrespects us and the same fans can't wait to fall over themselves to s*** on the team when they have a bad game.

They can have it.

What an absolute pathetic performance tonight. I can't remember a #1 team getting beat by nearly 40 points, regardless of where the game was played or who it was played against.

It's not good, that's for sure. I wish I could say it doesn't make me less optimistic but right now it does. We were probably due a loss but not like this.

They sped us up on offense and we looked panicked and jittery most of the night.

They had a good game plan. They were ready for the middle ball screen better than anyone we've seen.

We shot poorly. And the officiating was...bizarre.

Ultimately, it's just one game. Not worth overreacting about. We had a very similar game end of the season last year against Miss State and we all saw what happened after that.

Games like this happen every year. There is always AT LEAST 1 game a year every team (even the really good ones) lose where

- You have poor shooting variance

-The officiating is weird/bad

-You matchup poorly

-You get out schemed

And this one happened to be a combination of several.

Again. Not worth overreacting. It's basketball. You play a lot of games and you figure it out.

My general thoughts as well. This was just a disaster where everything that could’ve gone bad did. Quite literally impossible to shoot this poorly again, as it was a generationally bad shooting performance.

I agree on the whole, but the sheer domination we endured in this particular game is more than a token bad game by a good team.

I guess. We’ll see how they respond on Saturday, but this performance feels uniquely bad and not just like “that one bad game” if you get what I’m saying. I don’t know how many elite teams lose by 30. If anyone comes across a statistic about how many times the Top 5 has lost by 30 before, I’d like to see it just out of curiosity.

I’m not ready to panic, I suspected we would lose the game, but the full system meltdown has brought forward some concerns. Our offense looks fairly one dimensional right now. We don’t seem to have much of an inside presence even with Okpara being the only one to really play well tonight.

I turned it off at halftime to spare my mental health, but the entire first 20 minutes we just kind of swung the ball around the perimeter and didn’t handle ball pressure well at all. I imagine a lot of teams are going to bring pressure moving forward.

It’s hard to win a game where you know you are at a disadvantage down low coming into the game, and then proceed to miss every shot. We have been a little colder shooting the ball in December but we have still been fairly consistent.

The only worrying thing is if this is how we are going to look versus good competition, because the only game close to this level was Illinois and we couldn’t shoot there either.

Found this.
