The Official #1 Tennessee @ #8 Florida Game Thread, 7:00 PM ET, ESPN2

Not sure how pointing out that our team failed to play an entire game is overreacting, but ok.
We held the #3 offensive efficiency rated offense in the country to their lowest number of points this season. 15 pts below their average. Less than 40% from FG. That requires effort. We didn’t quit as you suggested. It was ugly to be sure. But to suggest they quit, based on track record is flat out disrespectful as a fan in my opinion.

I think Barnes needs to let Mashack fully heal.

With that pinky in basically a cast he’s not helping us any on offense right now. Still playing his ass off and at a high level on defense, but we’re gonna need him 100% in March. So missing 2-4 games now to get healed would be smart.

Gainey starts & Bishop/Dubar coming off the bench.

Gainey was 1 for 11. Not any better than Mashack offensively.

I meant complete disrespect for a team that failed to compete in any of the 40 minutes. I am not expecting a win every game but I am expecting the team to at least compete.

Every team experiences a clunker occasionally and Tennessee just could not score tonight and that trickled down to the other parts like being outrebounded and too many turnovers.

Burn this game film and start fresh in Austin on Saturday night.
I am all for this but all the sunshine pumping about this game needs to stop. This was unacceptable. Admit it and move on.

So what did Barnes specifically do or not do to cause the players to clank open shot after open shot?
He's the coach of the team. He insufficiently prepared the team for the game - see being shut out for nearly the first 7 minutes of the game. Anything he tried to do within the game was ineffective. He may as well have not been there.

Barnes is not out on the floor playing smothering defense, taking the ball to the hole, and raining 3s, but we don't act like he's not the reason we play well when we win. He's equally culpable for the team's on-court struggles as he is for their successes.
