I think this time of year there is a lot of data on hitters (and pitchers). Tears will adjust, how fast will be a function of how good he is as a hitter.

Nooby question for you stats guys:

Is Left-On-Base a non-revealing number (over an entire season) since you can't post a high LOB without having been very productive at the plate to begin with?

Which offensive stats are the most pertinent to (or, revealing of) an excellent season?

I'll hang up and listen for the answer.

There's truth in your assessment. Give up few hits and walks and you simply won't be stranding a bunch of opposing runners on base.

A better stat would be percentage of base runners erased (double play, pick off, thrown out stealing) or stranded. Then it doesn't matter is you stranded 50 out of 100 on the season or 250 out of 500 (but you need new pitchers if you're the latter.)
