There was time time when this forum was so civil it didn’t have moderators. No, I visit all the forums, just don’t post much in the women’s. It can go south in a hurry over there. When the site was under a different name, I only posted in the football forum. Just really started following the baseball team ( with passion) within the last 4 years but still didn’t sign back up until recently. I just enjoy the conversations and ribbing of each other, as long as it’s done in fun and no personal attacks. Just think we should all act like adults and respect one another.
I appreciate your kind words and the fact that the Dugout has welcomed me. This is the best website going and we owe it all to our Mods.
I’m not saying we should burn arms tomorrow to win. You should throw guys that aren’t going to be the primary contributors next weekend and let the chips fall where they may. If you lose, you lose.
But he was definitely implying he was disappointed we are still playing and worries we aren’t getting enough rest. I mean, these guys are 19-21 years old not 40. We are barely 1/3 of the way through a major league season by game count. Fatigue is not an issue.
A single school is one thing, but multiple schools and having to deal with pitching and depth are another. That’s why TV left Phillips in to figure it out. Losing doesn’t have any bearing on next week.I just don’t care about “history” because history is broken every day, every year in sports. Purdue had not made a Final Four in 40 years before this season. History suggested they weren’t going to make it and yet they did.
I don’t know how next weekend is going to turn out, maybe we’ll choke, but all I know is it will have nothing to do with playing on Sunday in Hoover.
Don’t put words in my mouth. I didn’t imply anything about being personally disappointed. It’s just my opinion that history says we would be better off with additional days of rest. That was opinion one.
Opinion two: the path to Omaha would be easier as a two seed matched with a 15 seed Indiana State versus a one seed matched with a 16 seed Mississippi State. Both just opinions. We can have different views.
No rights or wrongs but where do you call our success a break even with what we did in Hoover? If we lose in regionals then the reason is we played 5 games in Hoover? We lose in supers it’s because of Hoover? We make CWS but don’t win it and we blame it on Hoover? Where do you cut off the we could have used more rest schtick at?Don’t put words in my mouth. I see both sides here. What I don’t understand is, the concern for a plan. They have one, it’s working just fine. Everyone is on regular routine up to now, for the most part. We haven’t really even stretched anybody out. We’re fine as we sit here right now, better than fine.
@fryeguy93 would be the source for all of that…Anybody know who has automatic bids and how many spots…yes I know badly worded, shouldn’t have eaten the ice cream.

Fatigue impacts more than just the pitchers though. When players are tired...they tend to not perform at their best. It seems to effect players differently..for example... They may still make good contact while tired but don’t hit the ball as hard. Others may be more prone to striking out when tired.
I promise you it’s a concern of every coach in Hoover this week and they’re paying attention to player fatigue and how it affects each player, because performance will take a hit.(Hitting, fielding, speed, prone to injury). Tony said he changed the lineup today “to give some of the starters some rest.” It’s a long season that takes a grind on your body. None of it may matter, but it’s not as simple as “well they’re young they can handle it.”
Fair enough. You just don’t seem to be that thrilled about Tennessee winning games this week. To each his own. I don’t think Tennessee winning this week has any impact on anything next week, but like you said everyone has their own opinion.
Ok so after we win regionals we won’t have to hear about Hoover anymore. The Vols have advanced past regionals each time they have played 4 or more games in Hoover under Vitello. They are 2 for 2.Not sure what you mean by prior outcomes. 100 percent of the time…under Vitello. If you are trying to promote that if we are the number 1 seed or we are playing 5 games in Hoover and the season now won’t be a success unless we win it all then even that argument can be debunked..I think if you were to ask Tony, he’d say the break even was after the win over the Aggies. Guys got work, they gathered some good data points for post season, and they’d be back home in their own beds now preparing for regionals. I don’t know what the magic number is, I just know how it has typically worked out for others in the past. And yes, Mookie, I know history doesn’t necessarily dictate the future but it sure is hard to overlook prior outcomes.
If we lose in a regional next week I absolutely think you hear folks and coaches blame it on “the grind of the season took a toll on our guys and we didn’t execute.” Everything past that is matchups, imo, and has nothing to do with Hoover.
