The Official #1 Tennessee vs #19 Auburn Weekend Series Thread (Friday 7PM EST SEC NETWORK) (Saturday 7PM EST SEC NETWORK) (Sunday 1PM EST SEC NET+)

I feel quite sure the staff did nothing of the sort, which makes the whole story doubtful in my eyes, especially the abuse part. Unfortunately, after the late scuffle, there was a Vol fan sitting below me who kept yelling, “hit him in the head” when the Auburn hitters were at the plate.

I’ll probably get in trouble for this one. My experience at LNS has totally changed in the last two years. Just being blunt, there seem to be a lot more people that don’t know baseball. Some of those folks hear somebody ribbing an ump in an acceptable manner and decide they wanna take it up too. Then more join in and soon it gets totally out of hand.

I know it comes with the territory. At regionals it got close to fighting. People have young kids there. Mine is older but it was embarrassing in front of my wife.

Anyway, hopefully that gets under control eventually.

I’m hearing rumors that LNS even has its own whistler. Please say it ain’t so.

Because of all the chatter about this team, I’ll point out that this video shows Beck hitting a monster game winning HR in the 8th, after which he calmly drops the bat and runs the bases without theatrics.

On a side note, how do like being a college professor? do you mind me asking generally what subjects you teach? I always thought it would be a fascinating career.

That's a bad embarrassing seen when people that don't have a clue go overboard . It's probably ok to heckle as long as you keep it classy . It's a family outing be respectful to your on family and fans especially your on players . Some will be really gritty to there on players for not being perfect .

The SEC is the only major conference where all schools field a baseball team. Frankly, given the expense and Title IX requirements, I'm surprised that there are aren't more programs deciding to completely eschew baseball.
Tennessee dumped a good wrestling program, IRC, the 1980s.

When the Auburn pitcher had a problem with his hamstring, the Auburn staff acted as if they should be given an hour if they wanted to check out whether or not they should continue with that pitcher. After talking for a few minutes, the guy threw a number of pitches and they still stood around jawing at each other. Finally the ump went out there to tell them to make a decision - one way or the other - and it looked to me as if the Auburn people were upset at that. After taking forever, they then made the wrong decision to leave him in, then had to come out again to get him out of there because he was hurt, just like he was before they left him in. I was irritated watching it on TV, yelling out: Well, s*** or get off the pot, people!! For them to think they were abused because people booed them for acting like that is ridiculous.

Beck seemed to have a few things to say while he was rounding those bases. Wonder what it was.
