The Official #1 Tennessee vs. #4 MTSU Game Thread (NIT 2nd Round), 7:00pm ET, ESPN

Poor, pathetic willieboy.

He thinks you hit game winners in the 1st half and then thought Candy would wipe UT off the floor and hasn't showed up since then and he just happens to show up again tonight?

Grow a ballsack.

Is it sad that'd I'd so much rather lose to a Belmont or Lipscomb? MTSU has THE most insufferable/obnoxious in-state bandwagon fans.

This is true. They struggle to get 5,000 in their gym each night and this was their Super Bowl. They have a good team though. I'm not taking anything away from them. They wanted it more and it showed. I think if we had brought the same energy as they did then we would've won.

Some of you guys need to bring her down with the "embarassing" talk. Duke lost to Lehigh. Missouri lost to Norfolk State. We are not nearly as good as Duke or Missouri and MTSU was not nearly as bad as those two teams they lost to. We were favored by 5 point. It's basketball. It happens. Step away from the computer and alcohol, please.

No joke.

That has to be the stupidest comment I have seen even on this board.
Read it and weep.
Expectations were low for the Vols in Pearl's first season. Having lost their two leading scorers from a team that had been just 14–17 the previous season, Tennessee was picked to finish fifth in the six-team Eastern Division of the Southeastern Conference. However, the season started off well, and Tennessee entered the national rankings in December, when it routed then No. 2-ranked Texas, 95–78.

The Vols went on to lead the SEC East for virtually the entire season, with other highlights being a win over Kentucky at Rupp Arena and two wins over eventual national champion Florida. But after entering the AP Top 10 in February, the team lost six of its last nine games and dropped to a ranking of 18th. Although Tennessee won the SEC East, it was upset in the second round of both the SEC and NCAA Tournaments, the latter as a no. 2 seed. The team's 22–8 record was one of the best in school history. Following the season, Pearl drew accolades from national recruiting services for signing one of the nation's best recruiting classes, featuring three top-50 recruits in Duke Crews, Wayne Chism and Ramar Smith.[6]

Expectations were low for Bruce's first year because of how horrible the team was under Buzz.
It's much easier to come in and replace a losing coach who leaves some talent behind than a winning coach whose best players leave amidst the change.

UT shouldn't have even been favored in this game. UT is bigger and faster. Maybe not bigger than Dendy and Sulton but at every other position UT is bigger. The fact is though, MTSU is a better shooting squad than UT.

MTSU was the better team all year. I follow both schools. It wasn't about energy. MTSU is a better shooting team.

Better all year? MTSU didn't play the schedule that UT did.

I'd venture to guess that if the same team that showed up to play UCONN, Fla x 2 and Candy at home then MTSU wouldn't have won. MTSU is a good team, but I think UT did not play with near the energy or passion that I've seen them play with for most of the season.

Put that MTSU team in orange jerseys and let em play in TBA and UT would be dancin right now instead of playing in the NIT. The only reason MTSU is in the NIT is because of what conf they play in.

I get your argument and yes UT has showed up on several occasions this year, but not consistently. UT CAN be a good shooting team, but MTSU IS a good shooting team, every time they step on the floor.

I am a much bigger fan of the orange, trust me. I've just seen a lot from both schools this year and MTSU is more consistent. I think they deserve this win and I wouldn't be surprised to see them win the NIT.

Thats the biggest load of horse manure I have ever seen posted on a board. This team was pathetic all year except for a run of about 7 games. Good lord I could have coached them better on offense.

You must not have read your 348 posts then...
