The Official #1 Tennessee vs Alabama State Regional Game Thread Friday June 3rd (6PM EST SEC NETWORK)

Watching Wright State vs Va Tech. Tech had a 1 hour inning and just went up 10-5. Pitcher comes in gives up a run, then loads the bases. Coach came out of the dugout cussing. Dropped the F-bomb every time his right foot hit the ground. It was epic.

Good job BaseVols!

I didn't post during the Vandy game in the SEC Tournament, and since the guys played so well in that one, I decided not to post during the rest of the time in Hoover. And look what happened. 😉

I tried to do that today, but I just couldn't sustain it. One reason is simple; the baseball forum may be my favorite on Vol Nation. The second reason is it takes my mind off other things. We just came to the realization that my mom needs to go to assisted living. This might not seen like that big of a deal to some of you, and I get that; y'all don't know me other than what I post here. She has gone downhill since the first of the year and we just can't give her the 24 hour attention that she needs. And it breaks my heart, even though the facility she's going to is top notch.

I got my love of Tennessee athletics from my parents, although they didn't go to school there (they are ETSU grads). Watching the BaseVols today has helped me deal somewhat with what's going on. Hopefully, things continue to progress well for the BaseVols and for my Mom. Sorry to dump this in the baseball forum, but Vol Nation has become kinda therapeutic for me.

Thanks and peace to all.

I was the primary caregiver for my mom had Alzheimer’s for the last five or six years of her life. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I would not wish it to happen to anybody or for anybody to have to take care of somebody with it.

I only have one piece of advice to give, enjoy every moment you have with her as much as possible. I used to get so caught up in making sure she was taken care of, all those other caregiving things, that I was losing what time I had left her. When I quit worrying about her taking medicine (most of the time she would take it eventually), eating well or brushing her teeth (when you really think about it that stuff doesn’t matter much anymore anyway) and just sat back and enjoyed my time with her, we had some of the most wonderful times. I heard stories that I had never heard before. Not sure if they were all true or not but they were still fun to talk to her about. I almost feel like I got to know the mom of her youth a little bit.

The people that took care of her in the memory care facility are angels. They would have just the most awful situations and would have the best attitudes and give the most respect.

I miss her like crazy. The reason it hurts so bad is because you had a good one.

The story for tonight is 1) Blade is back, and how, 2) Beck is back, and how, 3) the offense and defense are clicking, and how, and 4) Charlie is a quality defensive catcher who will help control the running game, and who's bat can will get carried by the rest of the lineup without it being a big deal. We're good to go. I pity Campbell's Soup & Co. tomorrow!!

He played great considering he woke up in the morning thinking he would be working the bullpen. Anyone know who Charley's backup is? If he gets injured what happens? Catcher is the toughest position on the field.

Next year.
I think so too. If you really do make the most improvement between your first and second years as a player he will be scary. He looks like a major league hitter standing at the plate right now. He will probably finish this year with 15 plus home runs. So he would only need 23 to tie in his sophomore year. Going to be fun to watch him
