Sorry man, when I told you there was baseball in Hawaii at 12:30 AM, that was Saturday early morning not now.
It's not up to the players to make that decision. Earilier in the year Tenn benefitted GREATLY by being patient to get walks so that Beck et all could bomb a HR. Tnen repeat. The number of runs Tenn generates by taking pitches was mandated by vitello. For players, you either hit the way the coach wants or you won't get at bats.
In this situation, Vitello needed to give his guys the green light to swing because of what happened earlier. The ump isn't going to cut Tenn any breaks this game because Russel letting the ump get hit in the face with 102 mph fast ball.
Watch the ump and how he touches UGA catcher now compared to how he interacts with Russell.
I know this. UGA coach knows this. Russel knows this. Vitello knows this, but vitello refuses to change. Because of that Tenn is going to get a much bigger strike zone and not get marginal calls that UGA will get.
So what vitello should do is tell his guys to get real aggressive and swing away.
I agree. Know this will ruffle more than a few feathers on this board, but personally, I'd use the rest of the regular season and Hoover to play a lot of youngsters and rest/heal my roster. Get everyone fresh and healthy for the tournament.I truly would prefer Tennessee go into postseason as 2 seed. I really do.
Pretty darn steady, maybe the steadiest as far as location and spotting his pitches. Cool, calm, and collected. I do think the last couple of starts he lost command as far as location compared to earlier starts. His location just wasn’t as pinpoint, although I haven’t looked at any video of yesterday’s game.Do you think he has been our steadiest arm, as far as the weekend starters? Or am I crazy?
GBO!!
I’m going to go with the standard Auburn basketball response here: We have the greatest atmosphere in college baseball because we are 5,000 strong with the loudest, rowdiest fans in college baseball. Size doesn’t matter.LNS has become great but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t envious of a Saturday night game at Baum-Walker. That crowd is unbelievable.

Exactly! 99.9% of all umps have been hit in the mask; it happens. Also, Travis Rose was the ump for that game. He doesn't even officiate conference games for the SEC. Good lord, some folks' ideas are far fetched.Russell wasn’t even catching the mid week when the ump got hit in the face !!
