That’s basically what Mississippi State did and I’d say it worked out well for them

The pieces to this Vol baseball team are there. We just have to find a way to fit this jigsaw puzzle together. Then, we need a favorable helping of good luck and calls that go our way. I don’t know if we win it all or not, but there’s no way I’m letting a tournament lessen my enthusiasm and accomplishments of 2022.

On VN we have a place called The Pub for a few of the posts that have been showing up here.

The forum is better than it ever has been, let’s try to keep it that way. I’m not telling, I’m asking. If we need to debate it, let’s do so.

I can imagine that it wasn’t easy for you to bring this up because we are all buds and there is such an easy going vibe here, but it’s important that we keep this forum special, especially for the ones who have been here carrying the torch for many years. I can say without a doubt you guys/gals are the best group and I’ve enjoyed these last several months watching the games and getting to know all of you. It’s clear that Tony Vitello has transformed baseball in Knoxville into something that I don’t think any of you long time UT baseball fans ever could have imagined. The fan turnout at the games have been incredible and now with the new stadium being planned the future looks bright. At the same time I have heard a lot of you say how special last year was, I like many didn’t start coming around until late in the season when the excitement started to escalate. Just for comparison last year’s Georgia’s weekend game thread had a total of 621 responses, this years is headed towards 6000. More is not better, it’s important for all of us to make sure we follow the rules and maybe now would be a good time for the mods and longtime poster to discuss specifically the rules so we all know that we aren’t stepping on any toes and causing resentment. I believe that would help us new guys so much.

I appreciate this post. It was difficult not so much because of this particular topic, but because for the longest time the baseball forum didn’t have too many voices and even fewer folks who would carry the weight of starting threads that last, and all the other things that keep it interesting such as your Volshop thread.

I remember the time when I realized game threads are gonna change, when games are televised, there’s no real need to do a play by play for the folks who can’t get the Wilkerson call. There was the soldier in a foreign land getting his baseball info from right here. “Ya can’t let them down.”

Change is hard. I brought that subject to the board and we carried it on probably a year longer than we needed.

For my part, it was time to take a step back, let some new folks point us in the right direction. People stepped up.

I think people can read the difference between the different forums on VN. I don’t think we need a lot of rules. If yer mom or dad wouldn’t be proud of your post, that’s a good place to start usually.

I have no interest in deleting posts or ban hammering, this place has worked just fine for a long time opening up issues in plain sight. I prefer we discuss it, get it out in the open, the baseball forum will be what the majority want it to be and I ain’t gonna spend one ounce of my time trying to fight against it.
