The Official #11 Tennessee @ #25 Texas A&M Game Thread, 7:00 PM ET, ESPN

JJJ should have expanded his game more to help ZZ.

JJJ definitely isn’t quick but with his size and strength, no there’s no reason he shouldn’t be attacking the rim.

Worst case scenario, he draws a foul.
Numbers show JJJ helps this team offensively.. I mean the metrics are there. But tonight we didn't get any help with calls and ON and ZZ hurt us badly

Vandy and/or Auburn gonna pull even with us in the standings.....we split with Vandy H2H and still have 1 left with Auburn...we are going to lose the double bye for sure...good grief, could this team be playing in the first round???

He is literally shooting 40% from 3 in conference play. It’s not arguable, it is a fact. You must be a troll, he’s probably the second greatest shooter in the history of this program. Unreal takes from you tonight, boss man.

Vescovi is a lot of things, but he's not remotely the 2nd best shooter in the history of the program.

What I'm still trying to comprehend is how this specific roster, despite the game being in TBA, managed to beat Alabama. Plavsic had a good night and obviously added way more than he did in College Station, and Aidoo was a big contributor whereas his foul trouble hurt him tonight, but it's still somewhat mystifying because this roster is going to struggle against a 4 or 5 seed in the Round of 32.

31 3’s….you gotta drive the ball. This team settles for the outside shot way too often.

While I do agree, I think a lot of the reason for so many 3s is that we didn’t have a good finisher in the lane. Vescovi isn’t going to blow by anyone. Ziegler is only 5’9. Key hasn’t shown the ability to finish around the rim. Mashack doesn’t handle the ball well enough to be a reliable slasher.

Phillips is capable of being that kind of guy, but he obviously was unavailable tonight. Just a lot of offensive shortcomings on this team from a personnel perspective. There are some things we could do schematically that would probably open some more driving lanes, though.

Bama couldn’t dribble without turning it over. And they didn’t shoot well when they didn’t turn it over.

I agree on all counts. I'll also add the JJJ and Phillips aren't fixing anything when they come back. They've been just as inconsistent and sloppy at times as everyone else. The issue starts with the staff.
Exactly.. JP doesn't know what Barnes wants of him on Offense... He can be the most talented guy on the floor but Barnes has him scared and thinking too much... JJJ is important and a Swiss army knife but we need aggressive offense but he has never been that as well

So, Kellie has the women's team at 12-2 in the conference and Barnes has the men at 9-6?

Would not have expected that at the beginning of the year.

We’d likely have 2-3 more wins if he was even averaging 9ish per game and shooting 34-35% from 3 in conference play.

He’s been abysmal. And I was told all off-season how great of a pickup this was and how fans questioning the addition didn’t appreciate the type of shooter he was when healthy…..well he’s healthy, and he can’t even make wide open 3’s. He’s a net negative to this team right now. I’m not sure it’s even debatable.

Bama’s guards wasn’t used to playing physical.

We challenged a lot of their shots and made them turn the ball over.

I think Bama will be an early out imo.

ON and Uros were not highly thought of. Post play has been a problem, but Estrella is the best one in several years.

They both were highly thought of coming from other countries. When Uros transferred I remember the local media acting like he was the missing piece in the post as an "athletic seven footer." ON coming out of Finland had some good offers and was borderline 4 star as an unknown commodity with tons of potential.

Thr real problem is we've had a ton of 4 and 5 atar talent come in at the post and transfer out. Several of those guys are doing well in other programs. The ones who have stayed are struggling.

Santi isn't THE problem, but he's part of the problem. He is just as sloppy and inconsistent as everyone else, he just also happens to be a slightly better shooter.
He has to continue to carry the load because there aren’t any other scorers. If he didn’t have to be the only threat every damn night he would benefit. Every team just says don’t let him get to 25 because these other guys can’t beat us

No change in players, no change in results. This group can't shoot and they refuse to drive to the basket. Probably for the best because they can't hit free throws. They play great defense though! I am so tired of the guards driving the ball to the baseline only to look confused, like what do I do now? Some of these other issues would be less magnified if they could hit even a mediocre percentage from the field.
