No, I was talking about running it 3 times straight up the middle. The Gumps called a TO each time to stop the clock. The Vols then kicked the field goal to go up 7. That still gave the Gumps the chance to tie. I’d rather not go into OT if I could get a first down.

Will Brooks is the low key MVP of the season so far. This dude is a former walkon now starting and every pundit covering UT said he was gonna be terrible back there....Heck our defense as a whole has been insane and honestly any complaints about any unit or starter would be silly.

He saved 2 td's on the drive that ended with the Mccoy pick. Played great all night long. We are lucky to have him and he needs to be on scholarship.

1:42 TN ran the balls three times up the middle. Bama called time out three times. We punted with 1:39 left on the clock. That's bad play calling. You can run sweeps or run outside the tackle and stay in bounds and get more time off the clock. That's too much time to not try for first down. One first down and Bama never sees the ball.

Last week I felt we were a bit lucky to win. FL left a LOT of points on the field. Yes, our D TOOK some of those points but Napier was doing everything he could to help with boneheaded decisions.

This week, I am highly encouraged. Yes, the offense continues to struggle but we were CLEARLY the better team today. We had a couple of turnovers inside the 25, missed 2 FGs. WE were leaving points on the field. But we went out and TOOK that game.

If we continue to clean things up, start hitting some of those long balls, we will not only make the playoff, but be a legitimate threat to win it all. In short, I leave this game VERY encouraged.
