The Official #11 Tennessee vs. Virginia Game Thread, 9:30 PM ET, CBSSN

Dubar contributed exactly what I was hoping he’d bring. Honestly, it was significantly better than my very low expectations. He played fine defense, crashed the glass for a put back dunk, and didn’t try to do too much. Great job for a first game. He’s clearly been through a lot, so I’m rooting hard for him to succeed.

Rooting for the kid as well.

He must be the opposite of what us fans hear from time to time.

Usually we hear how someone is amazing in practice, but when the lights come on…the lights don’t come on.

Hopefully with Dubar he struggles in practice (like we’ve heard) and is a gamer. Looked that way tonight ;)

Kid is going to be a stud. Give it a minute.

He should have stayed at Marquette. His career crashed after Marquette

He started out strong and brought discipline. Then lost the team in the 2nd half of the first year. Then he had to battle Dickey over Isiah Victor being allowed to play, got mad, and ran away all butt hurt.

Funny that Dickey decided Isiah couldn’t play as little as he cared about basketball. It was almost as if he wanted them to fail. He was also jealous of Mears.

what was the deal with Victor not being allowed to play? (he played eventually for Green, of course.) was he academically ineligible initially? Victor would definitely be on my all-time Underrated Vols starting 5

We keep blowing chances
I can’t remember the last time Ziegler has been this much of a non factor
A non factor? Just in terms of scoring
Good job by Wilkerson. It’s pretty cool to hear some emotion and not be confused on which team just made a good play.

Can they let John finish out the season instead of Bob?
So, is he gonna be the man next year?

Wilkerson is around 60 so he’s not going to be a long term replacement. But he’d be perfect for the short term if they don’t find a homerun hire in his 30s or 40s or very early 50s. Maybe split the responsibilities and give Wilkerson basketball with baseball and somebody else for football. I wouldn’t mind to even see them audition several for football next year by rotating candidates week to week. There’s no need to rush into it. But I don’t think they’ll go that route. I think they’ll stick with the traditional combo of football AND basketball. But even John Ward started as basketball only and then added football starting in 1968.

Isiah’s eligibility was questioned. Kentucky pulled the same crap at the beginning of Bernard King’s career and he missed a few games until he was cleared to play.
