Caught a bit of the game on radio last night, and was surprised to hear Wilkerson.

I really liked him doing basketball! The tone of his voice is naturally upbeat, positive, and warm. Bob's natural voice is cool, even when he's being heartfelt and sincere. Not emotionally distant, just... objective.

Wilkerson doesn't have to use as much energy (or scream) to communicate excitement. There's also something anticipatory in his delivery that makes "Here's the pitch..." or "Nico takes the snap..." pull you in to expect something special is going to happen next.

Perfect for calling baseball. But I'd be thrilled with a season of any sport with Wilkerson calling it.

I’m watching last night’s game for the first time. I liked seeing Barnes argue with the ref over Okpara’s block/ foul with 12:30 left in the first half. His politeness may have cost us some calls in the past. It’s good to see him act more like the other HOF coaches like Calipari or Coach K every once in a while. I think he believes in this team’s potential.

Yikes, St. John’s already blowing them out in the first half. I will say that Virginia’s D doesn’t look nearly as intense as it did against UT. Could be tired legs, but there definitely seems to be less effort.
