Anyone dumb enough to bet a 34 point cover in a buy game during finals week deserves to lose their money. It wasn’t a good team so we played lots of guys. Relax and enjoy that we are good enough to play 12 players and win by 18. I’m assuming you had money on the game, otherwise why are you so upset.
You said you are done with “this crap”. What does that mean? Are you not going to watch or support the team anymore?
No it meant im done watching the last 3 minutes of that crap second half lol. I love our basketball team, but playing more guys is not the reason we only beat an 0-10 team by just 18. I didn’t bet on the game either. It just frustrating to see 5th and 6th year guys getting benched in the second half because they fall asleep defensively. Vescovi and Josiah can’t do that. When you get outscored by an 0-10 team in a half by quite a few there are issues with not finishing the game strongly, and Rick Barnes was also very unhappy with how they played in the second half. I guess he bet on the game too huh?It wasn’t a good team so we played lots of guys. Relax and enjoy that we are good enough to play 12 players and win by 18. So because we are on a message board we can’t voice frustrations, anonymously and not where players can see, about how poorly we played in the second half. Makes sense. He’s the coach, he’s supposed to be the tough one. You’re a guy posting on a message board. You have no ability to influence the team.
Barnes didn't like the way Tennessee approached offense in the second half, saying the Vols were just shooting the ball and "weren't playing with a purpose." They had 12 second-half turnovers, 11 of which were steals by Georgia Southern...The Vols shot 1-for-12 on 3-pointers and were 8-for-28 shooting in the second half. "It is not about making shots," Barnes said. "It's about playing good basketball."
Barnes highlighted a concern that he deemed a major flaw for inconsistent teams. He felt the Vols didn't respect themselves and view the game as a chance to get better. Respecting your opponent is one thing, Barnes said. But having respect for yourself matters. He said that is done by how a player handles the game and takes care of it. That is part of the consistency that Barnes talked about. "We regressed in the second half," Barnes said.
The consistency was missing Tuesday, when it couldn't cost the Vols against likely the worst opponent they will face this season. Barnes didn't get it from the older players. That left him frustrated and with three nonconference games remaining to find it.
What bothered Rick Barnes most in Tennessee basketball's win vs Georgia Southern
Really? I think they’re 3rd best in Barnes’s tenure. They’re only behind a team that was #1 in the country most of the season and a team that won the conference tournament. That’s not exactly harsh. I just don’t think they stand up to those teams.

Knecht is a great scorer. He's not a dog and I don't expect him to be as a one year player. A "dog" is that alpha leader that's vocal, fiery, and is in his teammates grill when they need it (good or bad). He's the guy that everyone else feeds off his energy and snaps his team out of droughts or settles them down if needed. Closest we have is Z, but even he is a little "quiet" on the court. Barnes doesn't recruit "dogs" - doesn't fit his profile. We have the second leading scorer in the SEC on this team.
Got it figured out, don't you?I promise this team will also under achieve. James and Viscovi are pouting because they thought they would be the focal points because they came back. They are not and it is showing in their games. Ziegler is very erratic. One play he is great, the next he can’t make a layup. To when the big games, a point guard has to be able to take over a game. We also have too many 3-5 minute stretches where we can’t score. That has been the problem with Barnes’ teams while he has been with Tennessee. Sorry to break the obvious to all you guys that have your orange colored glasses on.
