The Official #13 Tennessee vs. Alcorn State Game Thread, 6:00 PM ET, SEC Network+

He went up big that time lol
He should. As said on the broadcast this is the 6th smallest lineup in all of bball. They are really bad. His few plays good plays don’t make up for the multiple times he short legged it or didn’t bully his way in. Come conference play that won’t cut it. And for once, we have some guys that are a threat to take his minutes.

Alcorn harassed Tennessee defensively all night. They pressured Zeigler relentlessly and forced him into 4 turnovers. They also pressured everyone out top trying to deny entry passes and penetration. Even though we won easily, we handled their pressure very well. Our passing was very good. This game will serve us well down the road, although the opponent was not good. Those boys for Alcorn played hard. Kudos to them.

They played man and played hard on ball pressure. Officials didn't call it as close as some other games we've played though.

One trend I've seen for this team in the last 2 games has been the increase in passing for better shots.

33 made baskets and 27 assist last night
23 made baskets and 21 assist against McNeese

Before those games we were averaging 15.5 assists per game. So that's a positive to see, feels like the players are trusting each other more and not letting the ball stick as much. We also shot 52.4% from the field (highest of the season) and even shot far better from the line with 83.3%

Maryland then at Arizona back to back will be a good test for this team before SEC play... if we get to that game at Ole Miss with just 1 or 2 losses then I think everyone would be really excited.

Yeah, Barnes mentioned that they had been working on their passing specifically this week. Dual advantage to that: more quality shots and more shots, period, because of less turnovers. This team plays vicious defense, and as we start to catch up offensively, and we will, the sky is the limit. We will increase our percentages via better passing.

Yes, and someone said he injured it at the end of the previous game on Wednesday. So, four days later he’s still not dressed out and not moving the arm at all. Worries me a bit.

Someone elsewhere mentioned that you are not supposed to move your arm if you get a cortisone shot.

I’ve gotten a cortisone shot a number of times, and they actually encourage movement to increase mobility and to help distribute the drug throughout the tissue. Sometimes, though, the injection can be so painful you don’t want to move it at all for 24-36 hours.

edit: he was also not in a sling, so obviously his doc wasn’t trying to limit mobility, either.
