The Official #15 Tennessee vs Indiana State Weekend Series Thread (GAME 1 Friday @ 4:30PM) (Saturday DH @ 12:30PM) (GAME 4 Sunday @ 1PM)

We are a solid team, but by SEC standards, we do not appear to be real strong at the moment. Hopefully it comes around, but scoring on the weekends may be a real struggle for this group.

3 straight hits and no runs.

This is Tennessee baseball.

That base running mistake certainly is. Don’t know if I’ve ever seen that before. I thought it could be a walk off, to the Indiana St guys looking at each other and it dropping, to batter is out.

Just weird all around.

Well another base running error, maybe cost a game. A certain someone wanna dispute me again?
I’m assuming you mean me, and im also assuming, by your remarks of one particular play in a 9 inning game that cost the entire game, that you know nothing about baseball.

Yes, that wasn’t good baserunning, but if you think that one mistake, followed by a strike out and whatever the next out was (wasn’t watching), equal “maybe winning”, then I have zero reason to discuss these things with you.

We didn’t hit, that cost us the game. Period.

Yeah dude, it is a concern. Hitting was bad yes, but in close games, you need all the runners or extra ABs. It has happened more than usual than I've seen with UT than any other team i have watched over last few seasons, and I watch a lot of baseball. It is very much concerning to Vitello.

No question the bats were quiet but this game was winnable with what we got.

Outfielders running into each other and baserunners playing roadrunner, beep beep, make games tough to win.

My point is though, similar to what you just said. If you can’t hit, you’d better play smart. But if you struggle base running, you’d better hit. Either way works.

Hindsight is 20/20, but I was thinking be ballsy and hit and run with 0 outs in the 9th hoping ISU would play in for a bunt.

It is what it is, about 50 more games to go. Go Vols
