The Official #16 Tennessee vs. #4 Kentucky Game Thread, 9:00 PM ET, ESPN

If we hadn't missed several layups this could've been a 28 point beatdown in reverse. Big win where would this team be with Ziegler he is a little fire ball and can score big baskets, make great passes, and drive the opponents crazy with his ball handling and penetration. Jonas Aidoo played big time last night 19 minutes 5 and 7 rebounds only took three shots. He had three blocks and was a total frustration of their big man. Fulkerson best game of the season. Chandler did it early in the game Vescovi his usual solid game. The big problem with a win like this is the potential letdown in the next game. I hope we can avoid it happening to us seen it happen way to many times. Love to get to that Auburn game without losing any games. Beating them would give us victories over three of the projected number one seeds no one else will do that this season.

Aub has barely won @ Ga & @Mizzou. They may lose a couple others but Tenn & Ky going undefeated themselves rest of the way would be the feat.
Auburn was without their point guard Zep Jasper who went down in the first half of the Missoz game and didn't play again till the A&M game where he had zero turnovers. In the Georgia and Arkansas games Auburn averaged 18 turnovers a game. They have to come to our house so that makes them beatable.

I just want to let you guys know that you're very welcome for the win last night...I worked very hard to make it happen. You see I work a lot of 4am shifts for my job so last night I was exhausted and I fell asleep before the game. I also fell asleep before the Kentucky game in 2020 when Fulkerson dropped 27 points. So, obviously me sleeping through the games bring us goodluck. That is why I will be laying down to take a long nap at about 330pm this Saturday. GBO!!

Not so fast! I had to hit the sack before this game started, too.
Givin' my all for Tennessee!

(Pretty sure my first unconscious thought was "ZZ zzzzz.")

What a win, guys! I had this one down as a loss. So glad they proved me to be stupid. The smoked crow is delicious. This team seems to be really coming around. What's amazing to me is usually toward the end of the season the roster is pretty much set with 7-8 players. Oliver goes down, plug in a new guy and he immediately makes a difference. Absolutely remarkable that we can play that many guys and be that cohesive. Sure, there are times I look at the lineup and wonder where the scoring was coming from, but it works. Now let's not lay an egg against someone we shouldn't and beat Auburn and all in the world will be right!

GBO!

At Rupp, Wheeler, TyTy & Grady scored 65 points. At TBA, those 3 were held to just 18 points.

Santi, KC, ZZ at Rupp scored 39 at TBA they scored 49

I don’t take losing at Rupp seriously considering we always played our worst in that arena.

Even during the Pearl years, we got absolutely owned.

Just highlights how much better our guards played defensively. Santi, KC, and ZZ all played 29 minutes or more last night too. So it was really about them defending.

The quicker BHH realizes he’s 6’10”, 250 lbs and starts playing like it, the quicker this squad becomes a serious threat. Especially if Aidoo can give us post production and a nice presence around the rim.
GBO!!
If we can also get one more wing player to be consistent and play good d, the Vols will really be a team nobody wants to face in the tournament.

Listened to the game last night as I had my second LASIK surgery and trifocal implant. So thankful to the team including coaches, players, staff, and fans. Never, ever, count out a Tennessee team. Are we a favorite for NCAA champs? Probably not. Were we playing pissed off (motivated) and at home...yes. We play Auburn at home too! Go get 'em Vols! Again, great game and looking forward to seeing you at 2020 over 2040 with blurs and halos.

I don’t see BHH being here next year.

He’s been a huge disappointment considering the hype out of high school.

I think BHH was the "raw athlete" more than Aidoo.

Also Evan Daniels had an evaluation early on him that I think still hammers home a bit.

"He wants to fade to the perimeter and hunt jump shots, which can hinder his overall productiveness at times. That said, he’s a tremendous talent and with continued development could be a one-and-done level recruit."

We really need him to start finding his rhythm come Tournament time.

Aidoo and BHH playing good basketball would cause problems for any opponent.

Honestly if either of them give us quality minutes we're going to look pretty good because of it. Combined we need them both to account for 8 rebounds and about 8 points, if we get anything more from them then it's all gravy imo.

I think with Uros having his rib/back injury we'll see more of both moving forward.

The job Santi did defensively on Grady was superhuman. He was stuck like glue to him all night. Frustrated him to no end. Literally tormented the guy. That’s good D.
no kiddin, the work he did on kellan was magnificent
i'm still having trouble with grady's move from the good wildcats to the dark side

To my eye BHH has been a disappointment.

I think people were expecting too much, he reclassified and his game at the HS level wasn't truly dominating as a big. He looked good early against lower level competition, but the SEC isn't a league where you get rewarded for playing anything but full speed.

You’ve forgotten the Fulky 27 point game? I remember Grant & Admiral winning there also

I do remember.

I’m talking about our past history playing at Rupp.

However, Barnes has done better than Pearl in that criteria.

Tennessee had a better offensive game vs Ky in Lexington but the defense wasnt there. Last night the defense really was on, thus the win.
