You’re right. It is true in the nba, and while I’m not an expert have heard it is actually designed to be so. Some of the rule differences ensure that. Talent disparity and quality of shooters in the nba are also much more consistent. The data for the Vols is pretty anecdotal at this point, but we shot 40% against inferior opponents and 12% against a good defense with strong guards. I was a non-believer when we were shooting 40%, and don’t think 12 is the number either. In that regard, we will definitely revert to the mean. My point was really just that this offense will sing if Fulkerson, ORN and BHH are a scoring threat. I don’t think ball reversal to get a three on the horn will work without an inside game. If we develop an inside game, those same inside players will start to generate more three point assists than the guards. The offense thrives when the inside out game is clicking.3p% is really hard to consistently impact. At least that’s true at the NBA level. Not sure if that’s as true in college, but usually 3p% regresses to the mean independent of the competition level. (The quantity of 3s definitely is impacted by the D though)
100% agree about the importance of an inside scoring threat. Hopefully Fulky/ORN emerge as that option this afternoon. You’re right.
