The Official #17 Tennessee vs. #25 Missouri Game Thread, 3:30 PM ET, ESPN

That’s not how it works though. Only two teams have 3 wins over top 10 teams. Tennessee is one of them. Don’t overthink it and take the emotion of it being “your team” out of it and TN is a clear 3.
And if TN is a “clear 3”, you can rest assured we will actually not be seeded higher than a 4 (that’s where I’m predicting we get seeded but a 5 wouldn’t shock me). I can take the “emotion” out of it. But not the “metrics” of where we actually have been seeded the last few years despite the metrics saying we should have been seeded higher. Human bias is absolutely part of the process. Look no further than Bama being ahead of us in the final CFP rankings.

I actually thought we played pretty well today.
Missouri is going to be a tough out if they shoot this well in the tourney. James was a massive letdown and we need him to get by the first weekend.

Missouri is a good team--size, play with a lot of physicality and intensity on the defensive end, and their guards play well.

Our centers were an absolute no-show today. ZERO points from the 3 of them, collectively, 4 rebounds. B-A-D.

Grant Williams was a better shooter and by far a better all around player.
Obviously he was a better player. You’re off one of you think Grant was a better shooter than Vescovi is. Maybe you’re thinking of Celtics Grant but in college he was not a prolific 3 point shooter at all. His junior year he could hit an open look but that was never his game.

That would’ve been my second choice. I think including Scov and JJJ is a bit unfair cause they weren’t who they developed to be. I find it hard to criticize the coach too much when the go to player is John Fulkerson. Plus the win in Lexington that year is one of my favorites

But he had Grant for 3 seasons and should have been recruiting better than he was.

2016 class = 49th
2017 class = 54th
2018 class = 120th
2019 class = 28th (and had to scramble to add Santi to get it that high)

Just frustrating because he had 2 successful seasons before that 2019-20 one and the recruiting wasn't where it needed to be so we saw a big dip from 31 wins to 17, and again if Santi hadn't been eligible we likely don't win that many.

He didn’t have to just shoot 3s. He was a much greater offensive player and defensive player even.

Maybe, maybe not. Regardless. Comparing our top 20 basketball program to our football program struggles is absurd.
Yes-it’s hyperbole. We tolerate so much that other fanbases don’t and you’re seeing that when were #1 in kenpom, can’t even make a top four performance in the league, and get dropped on Friday. But we’ll make tournament appearances and lackluster exits every year. If we like that, we’ve got the right program.

Ok, I was just talking in season. If you zoom out like that I agree with you

I hope I am wrong, but JJ’s light is not coming on. He is what he is.
