The Official #18 Tennessee vs. Ole Miss Game Thread, 7:00 PM ET, SEC Network

But him dribbling into the paint with giants and no where to go needs to stop a little.

YES!

This is actually, in my opinion, a problem with the offensive scheme / offensive awareness of our players.

We need more off ball movement and screens. Just too much standing around without the ball.

Can Barnes shoot for them? Just checking. Cause last I checked you can have any offensive scheme you like and it won’t do any good unless the players make shots. Sometimes this team just doesn’t shoot well. Don’t know what the reason is but they get in spells where they can’t hit the ocean if they are standing on the pier. Just glad they finally got something going before it was too late. Bottom line is win and move on.

Barnes can’t shoot for them, but he can develop some sort of offensive scheme allowing our guards to penetrate into the paint and dump off to our bigs vs passing the ball around the perimeter.

You guys are freaking out too much....Ole Miss is a good defensive team and happened to shoot 50% from 3 and had a guy score a career high. We still won regardless of that.
I don't understand why teams suddenly become the greatest 3 point shooters ever when they play us. I guess our defense is so good, they have no other choice but try threes?

And the standing around. If we aren’t running, we just seem to get cement shoes and stand waiting for someone else to do something.

Guess he needs to recruit better shooters. Win or lose, good or bad, The “buck” stops with the coach

No moral victories no moral losses.

Took some guts to NEVER let up on D when the O was so hard to come by.

The pace of game reminds me of a game back in the 60's in Stokely against FL. Bill Justus got his only points of the night from just above the foul line as time expired, It had that same WHEW factor when you realized it was really over and a win after very little going right the whole game. To survive a night when a guy on the other team that is not a 3 guy goes 8-11 including 5-6 from 3 land has to feel better in the locker room than the alternative, but still not pleasant I bet.

I like ZZ as a defender and ball handler. But him dribbling into the paint with giants and no where to go needs to stop a little. He can get around his defender and then pass it. But not from u see the basket. Did that several Times tonight. His defense was tenacious though
If we had a sense of an offensive scheme he wouldn’t end up in there without options to make a play. He’s moving but where is everyone else other than camping out on the perimeter? That’s not an offense unless you are a team of shooters.

I like Barnes. I like this team. I just want them to not be a black hole on offense. It's not that complicated. It's hard to not get frustrated, angry, and downright pissed when you see how much talent this team has and think about how we might squander it if we don't figure something out. We haven't shot well since the North Carolina game it feels like.

Winning despite the coaching. Hey, I’ll give credit to Barnes for a lot but his game day coaching leaves a lot to be desired. We have absolutely zero offensive identity and I think if you watch the body of work, this is a consistent theme year after year.
Not sure why you guys continue to be confused about our offensive struggles? We have no go to post scorer and like to play a motion type offense. When a good zone D team plays us it takes away our cutting to the basket but we get plenty of open outside shots. Make a decent percentage of open outside shots and we’re tough to beat. When we can’t buy an outside basket against the zone then we stink. It’s pretty clear what’s going on. If you want to bitch about CRB it could be that he hasn’t landed another stud post player since Grant, not that he doesn’t know how to coach

Barnes will have obviously plenty to gripe about and will have this team ready to go for LSU. Olivier, Vescovi, ZZ, and James had a solid game. BHH might need more minutes but he just doesn't do much when he is in. He looks tentative and doesn't seem aggressive. 17 steals and causing 27 turnovers. Great effort! If UT beats LSU they will be back in the top 15.

Even when our post guys are in the post, they are out of position or collapse, either leading to a missed rebound or a turnover.

Our guys look like world beaters on defense and then completely lost on the offensive side.

Barnes has recruited several stud post players and they have either transferred or he sits them on the bench. It’s obvious he can’t develop post players , much less recruit ones that he likes

Watch JJJ coach Barnes at end of regulation...Level head on that young man.

Good to see Cane in the gym!

So what?! We were missing Fulky and KC against Bama. It doesn't matter. You dont get style points. It's SEC play and wins are all that count.

Because you're acting like everyone is "freaking out" because you listed off things to make it seem like Ole Miss was a tough win but happened to leave out they were missing their best scorer. Then you move the goalposts.

If you want to praise the W, go ahead but don't act like a start like that against a better team won't result in an ass kicking. If that's too much of a "freak out" for you, kindly ignore me.
