Sean Manaea no-hits the Red Sox. Boston hadn't been no-hit since April 22, 1993, the 2nd-longest active streak in MLB entering today.

He's the 3rd pitcher in Athletics history with 10+ strikeouts in a no-hitter, joining Dave Stewart (12 in 1990) and Catfish Hunter (11 in 1968).

Jacob deGrom earned his first win since June 18.


From June 19 to August 7, his 2.47 ERA ranked 11th among 85 qualified starters. He went 0-5 in that span.


In fact, 160 starters had at least 1 win, and 138 of those starters had an ERA higher than deGrom's 2.47 mark.

Pretty cool story of his dad seeing him play for the first time in the majors the day he hits 3 homers against the Yankees

The Washington Nationals have traded second baseman Daniel Murphy to the Chicago Cubs and sent first baseman Matt Adams to the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Cubs sent Class A minor league infielder Andruw Monasterio and a player to be named or cash considerations to Washington for Murphy. The Cardinals sent cash considerations to the Nationals for Adams.

It is unclear where Murphy will play in Chicago. Javier Baez, who is having an MVP-caliber season, is the Cubs' primary second baseman. Cubs starting third baseman Kris Bryant is currently on the disabled list with a shoulder injury. Murphy has experience playing third base.

The news of the Murphy trade was first reported by The Athletic. Yahoo Sports first reported the Adams trade.
